I am a naturally pessimistic person, I look at the state of the world with contempt, being able to see good through all the hate has been imperative for me to continue pushing through my life. I need someone or something to guide me and teach me right from wrong. If I was not raised Christian I would have turned to drugs or self-harm, which were both extremely prevalent in my school system. As a minor, she may choose to give the child up for adoption, keep the child, or undergo an abortion. Many are opposed to the latter option, which is the early termination of a pregnancy. The root of this issue began with the Supreme Court’s decision on the legality of an abortion in Roe v. Wade and has stemmed into a debate of pro-choice or pro-life. The decision led to the polarization of the public, since the conservatives were against abortion being a constitutionally protected right. Pregnant women should have control over their body, and yet through case law conservatives are able to pass restrictions on when the abortion procedure would be done (Henretta, J. Out of all modern social controversies, perhaps the most heated controversy is that of abortion. In today’s society you are either a Pro-life or a Pro-choice, there is not a middle ground. Pro-life are individuals who believe abortion is immoral and should be stop for the wellbeing of women and unborn babies. In contrast, the Pro-choice individuals do not necessarily promote abortion, they just believe women should be the ones to make decisions over their bodies and health. Although the two main sides of the abortion debate have concerns for human life, pro-life activists worries more about the fetus and morals, a clear difference from the pro-choice that worries more for the women and their rights. Based on the points I explored, the pro-choice arguments are stronger than pro-life arguments. Most of both groups arguments comes from peer-reviewed researches from well-known sources to support each individual concept. Pro-life supporters are usually religious individuals, individuals who believe it is a kind of murder, and/or people who believe in the sanctity of life. Man was born with an inalienable aspect of choice and it is with this aspect that the person will die holding to, indeed, at individual levels people have even the choice between living and death and can decided to end their lives even without informing anyone about it.

I was raised in a Christian home where my parents taught God’s Word as our guide for life. Every single evening, we all prayed together as a family, usually standing in a circle with all six of us holding hands. It was usually brief, but it was not taken lightly, and it gave me a strong sense of security in God and family. The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”, Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV). My parents firmly believe this, and they showed it, as not only did we pray together, but we also had family Bible studies and attended church together. My parents also gave us a good sense of high moral standards. I remember, when trying to figure out how much I should do for a “needy” friend of mine, my mother reminding me that we were called to be servants, but not slaves! I have remembered that ever since and now, finally, I have learned to say no to other’s expectations of me when I feel it necessary, without feeling too badly about it.

Life does not begin at conception. A fetus is not worthy of our moral consideration. A two-week old embryo is not morally equivalent an adult. These are some of the controversial statements posed by the debates regarding the morality of fetuses that have perplexed and divided human beings since the beginning of recorded history. Attitudes towards the moral status of the fetus and abortion have been recorded in every civilization in human history. For example, the early Greeks believed that the soul was introduced after birth, thus believing that the fetus was not worthy of moral consideration. In the Christian Bible, there are various passages that refer to abortion as a loss of property rather than a loss of life. Morality of the fetus and abortion are topics that date back to even the earliest civilizations. However, thousands of years later in modern times, abortion is still a taboo subject around the world. Why is it that one of the most important decisions that a woman will ever make in her life must be kept in the shadows? Why are we scared to publicly state our opinion on whether we are pro-life or pro-choice? Greed is considered to bring ruin and destruction, so it is considered a sin, and it can lead to other sins and wrongdoings. Also, greed distracts a person from his or her faith. Greed causes a person to salivate for things they don't really need. The sin of greed is evident in Chaucer’s tales through the sale of indulgences, the murderous lust for gold, and the hunger for nobility status which is seen in the Pardoner and the three rioters in the “Pardoner’s Tale”.
