In South Dakota there are several codes and regulations that are specific for the climate and geographic features in that state. most of the codes south dakota uses are part of the international codes. When starting slab foundation and installing ICFs the homeowner needs to start with excavation. During this process the homeowner has to have the sod (grass). while doing a slab foundation there needs spots dug for the footers. If the contractor digs to deep into the foundation the footers can not be placed. But for an Insulating concrete form system it is a dry-stacked (without mortar) that is filled with concrete.
