2. The three types of foundations. According to The Old House magazine, the average weight of a foundation is seven and a half tons (Alexander, pg. 2). a. Basement foundations are common in the northeast (89% of all houses) and midwestern (75%) part of the country. They provide additional room for families and one of the least expensive ways to expand a home (Anonymous, 2014). b. The next foundation commonly found in the the midwest as well is called a crawlspace. The Do It Yourself Network says this foundation gets it name because the house is literally built above the ground and provides only enough room to crawl under the house (Anonymous, 2014). c. The last foundation is typically found in the south called a concrete slab foundation. This foundation is poured directly on the ground due to hardly any movement from frost and saves on cost. Note that you are not restricted to have a specific foundation due to the region you live in. For example you can find basement foundations in the south (Anonymous, 2014).
Transition: The next step after the foundation is the framing. Now I will inform you about the framing of a house.
B. Let’s start with the definition of framing.
1. According to the dictionary website, house framing is a rigid structure formed of relatively slender pieces, joined so as to surround sizable empty spaces or nonstructural panels, and
Therefore, they made two-story homes. The homes were unpretentious and usually colorless. Similar in design but different in materials,

Many of those buildings were being developed in his mind while he was growing up and spending summers on his uncle’s farm. It was during this time that he developed his love for Nature, to be a part of it. His love for Nature is dominant in his earlier works dubbed the “Prairie Houses”, but can also been seen in his later works such as Johnson Wax and the Guggenheim Museum. When Frank Lloyd Wright was just sixty-eight years old, he was commissioned to design a house for Edgar Kaufmann. Wright and Kaufmann went to the property to survey the location for the house. Kaufmann liked to spend time at the water falls on his land so that is where Wright decided to build it. Wright figured if Nature could place the boulders over a waterfall, than he could build a house over one. It took Wright only three hours to draw the plans for the house. The house consists basically of concrete slabs balanced on the boulders above the stream, and the walls are slabs of the natural rock surrounding the house. The house includes a pool that is built under the house and is fed by the passing stream. Every aspect of the house embraces the Nature that it co-exists with, and the house appears to fade into its surroundings.
With a full basement, your foundation walls should be high enough so that you have at least seven feet, four inches of head space in the finished basement. The finished foundation should be waterproofed from the footing to the finish grade line. The foundation is poured, sleeves are installed in the forms before pouring for such things as the water supply and the sewage outlet, the pipe is placed through the hole and the space between the pipe and the wall is patched. This is the easiest method used to get a tight, waterproof fit. .
In a side by side comparison, HOME rents/Fair Market rents and area median rents are not very different for a family of four. The average Fair Market rent for 2014 in counties considered metropolitan statistical areas is about $1,150 for a three bedroom home and the median rent for a three bedroom home in 2014 is about $1,200 per month. However, if comparing the current monthly rental payments with the median income of $56,100, a family of four must have a monthly gross income of over $4,000 per month in order to not incur a cost burden of 30 percent or more.
Analysis: There are also maintenance and repair costs that must be done in other to maintain your home. Some people do not buy houses because of this responsibility. They prefer to rent or live in condos where an association is responsible for the hassles. The problem is association fees are not fixed and frequently increase costing you a lot more than you bargained for.
Building a new house is an exciting endeavor. If you are lucky, you get to customize aspects of your home to personalize your home. Before the builder encloses your walls, you should choose insulation that will help you conserve energy.
The use of mud and stone is mainly due to affordability. They cannot manage construction completely without cement. They use it for the plinths and foundations. They have used lime wherever possible but over the years lime plaster has proven difficult to maintain.
Next, the builder will be hanging sheetrock. The sheetrock is the base interior wall covering. After the sheetrock is hung, the painting or wallcovering can be done. Once painting is completed, the carpet installation or other floor coverings can be installed. This is self-explanatory.
