CMA known as certified medical assistant it applies to a medical assistant who got their certificate by the board of American Association of Medical Assistants. RMA is known as Registered Medical Assistant it isn't all that different from a certified medical assisant, they just couldn't have the same acronym as AAMA so they named it American Medical Technologist and into registered medical assistant. Registered medical assistants and certified medical assistants do pretty much the same thing, one doesn't favor the other. So if I have one or the other they are both good. They are both known to do the exact same thing, they can do duties in a doctors office or in a hospital.

The AAMA mission is to make sure that every MA is getting the proper education. So that the MA is confident in what they are doing as well, as knowing how to do the job properly.
