Kindness is something that is rarely found in people or in places. Therefore, all we are really left with is hatred, cruelty, and lots of criticism before we even think about showing anyone any amount of kindness. In “A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings” , Gabriel Garcia Marquez shows us how the power of kindness is so strong, that it can even overcome the meanest things.

A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings Analysis The story, “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”, has a lot of deeper meanings and irony embedded in the plot. However, one idea hung in my mind throughout the whole story. The cold nature of humans and how they treat other people without knowing a single thing about them. Also the selfish things they will do to benefit from a situation. Most people will make sure they’re doing well before they check on someone in need. They are so focused on themselves

The strange elements in the story “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings” by Garcia Marquez can best be defined by the magical realism that states “the capacity to enrich our idea of what is ‘real’ by incorporating all dimensions of the imagination, particularly as expressed in magic, myth and religion” (Benet’s Reader’s Encyclopedia). Thus the ordinary is joined with fantasy in way that invites the reader to accept both in trying to make sense of the text. Marquez plays with uncertainty and this mix

Gabriel Garcia Marquez is a man of many talents. His greatest talent is that in all of his short stories, he uses this imagery that swallows the reader whole and spits them out into the very reality of his written words.
