I've been asked one question…”What do you want to be when you grow up?” I thought for a long time I wanted to be a Sports Psychologist but for the last 6 months I’ve been asking myself, “Do I really want to be a Sport Psychologist?”, and I have discovered that I'm interested in more than just sports related things-I'm interested in marine life and the marine atmosphere. I don't see how this didn't come to me sooner because every time I would go to the beach I would ask if we could go to the South Carolina Aquarium just to look at the fish or when we would go to Miami I would ask if we could go to the Miami Seaquarium or the Zoo Miami. The Barrier Reef is the largest reef in the world, and it is located in Australia. It is made up of different types of coral and fish, but sadly the reef is bleaching. Bleaching is the process of water temperatures getting too warm and as a result coral reefs can bleach. When water gets too warm, corals will get rid of the algae living inside their tissues causing the coral to turn completely white. The character of the Royal Governors and officials appointed by the King and Parliament were somewhat questionable. These appointees gained these appointments thru bribery and favoritism. Some even never went to the colonies but hired deputies to go in there place. These deputies then would supplement their income by accepting bribes.

Ever since I was an infant, I have spent almost every summer on my father's boat in Ocean City, New Jersey. Whether it be fishing or jumping off the boat to go swimming, I have always been familiar and had an immense love for both the boat and the ocean. Up until this year, I had never known that there was an option for me to be able to take online classes at my high school. Since I have already taken all of the science classes that are honors that were available, I needed to find another science class. I had found the honors oceanography class in the catalog online, and I instantly signed up for the course. I enrolled because of my interest for the ocean and it's inhabitants. When I was growing up I wanted to become a veterinarian; simple as that. As time went on I realized something kinda sorta essential. Dogs don’t enjoy the vet, don’t tolerate it, they hate it. Fear may be a more rational word to describe it, but guess what that does not make a catchy title. Over time my aspirations changed and I now find myself striving to be a wildlife rehabilitator. A form of veterinarian to a much wider range of animals than pets and companions, but that does not displace them in my heart. I love all animals, not a dog person, not a cat person, an animal person.

Education has always been an important foundation upon which my family encouraged the most. Not just the education pertaining to structured schooling, but the fundamentals in life that require you to interact in society and be a part of something bigger than yourself. They demonstrated how to commit to values such as responsibility, motivation, and consistency; and, how to be open-minded and passionate about the things you believe in. These things all required a sacrifice in various ways. They always stress how “sometimes you need to give up something to get ahead, or how sometimes sacrificing the familiar and what you expect from yourself to get the results that you are seeking in the long run.”

Many people have had a moment where they encounter something extraordinary that will change a part of them forever. A moment where you are engaged in nothing else but finding your passion and making a career out of it. From that instant on you inspired to start the journey of education in order to accomplish your goals. For me, this moment was when I was accepted into the High School Lake Ecology (HSLE) summer program at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL. HSLE was a three week program where me and twenty-three other high school students, who were selected from 400 other applicants, would study for a week at the Shedd, create a research project of our own, and then travel to the Apostle Islands, WI, to collect our own data while kayaking from

If you are interested in adventuring the depths of the ocean, being a marine biologist is the job for you. As a marine biologist you will need to have several years of schooling in order to have a successful career. Being a marine biologist can be an enjoyable and dangerous job, but the journey is worth the ride.

I’ve always had a keen interest in science. When I was younger, I viewed a dolphin show online. I was instantly fanisnated and later I was informed that the trainers were special marine biologists. The idea of becoming a marine biologist is still a dominate career choice for me. Last year, I was incredibly curious with the aspects that a marine biologist has to undertake that I researched the career path as part of my PLP. This only ignited my interest even further and when I was invited to attend the Flinders University I particularly focused on the marine biology and biology lectures.

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. I was raised on a small farm in Americus, Georgia. Instead of dolls and makeup, I asked for play dinosaurs and pet lizards for Christmas. I grew up caring for every type of animal.

When thinking about getting away to some serene paradise to help forget about work or school obligations most people instantly think of the beach. Whether it be the west or east coast the beach is a universal symbol of peace and serenity, plus a little bit of fun. But this bliss has a whole different meaning to me. This is where I grew up and how I found myself. The west coast of Florida is the first time I felt the sand in my toes and the salt water on my face. These memories inspired me to give back to the ocean and its inhabitants and follow my dreams of becoming a marine biologist.

My goals in life are to get a first enlist in the Navy, hope to get a job as a diver in the special operations program. After my first enlistment is up, I want to be a diver at an aquarium where I can feed the animals; Meanwhile, I would like to attend Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at The University of Miami and earn a doctorate degree in Marine Biology to become a Marine Biologist. I've always been fascinated with animals, especially aquatic life. Although, I wasn't dead-set on becoming one at first, over spring break I made my final decision. We went to an aquarium and I just loved every bit of it; the animal’s interactions, the knowledge behind all of it, and the joy I saw between the employees and the animals. I’m very interested in not just the study of organisms in the ocean or other marine bodies of water, but also marine conservation and ecology. Thinking about the studies of protecting and preserving of the ecosystems in oceans and seas and interactions among organisms and their environment just gets my full attention. I could sit for hours and hours and listen to anybody talk about these subjects and they would have my full attention, one-hundred percent. This subject has never, and never will lose my interest.
