A Raisin In The Sun Beneatha Younger Essay

Satisfactory Essays

In the novel A Raisin in the Sun, Beneatha Younger, the sister to Walter Younger and daughter to Lena “Mama”, is known for the way that she speaks her mind, regardless of the situation. As well as this, Beneatha has different ideas on the way she wants her life to turn out. This is due to the fact that she is a feminist who doesn’t wish to follow the stereotypes that come with being a black woman. These include getting married and becoming a doctor, which is a different career than that of the conventional housewife. While she may not get married, Beneatha has two boyfriends, Asagai and George Murchinson, and each one treats her differently as well as her beliefs, such as her aspiration to be a doctor, in a different way.
