Philosophy Statement I believe a leader is a person who is respected and respects others. A leader is a strong person who is a foundation for his or her followers. Leaders are not always to be the best or on top. Leaders need to be a base for the followers in order to accomplish what is best for the team. Leaders need to be role models for followers and need to encourage and build up the team they are working alongside. A leader is someone who works together with followers to accomplish a variety of tasks and goals. A variety of qualities are important for leaders to do a wonderful job. Leaders should be trustworthy, honest, intelligent, friendly, positive, and courageous. To be an efficient and upstanding leader, one must be willing to take responsibility when needed and step up often. Leaders are all different, but many share similar traits. Effective leaders should absolutely be trustworthy. If followers and peers cannot trust the leader, the efforts of the leader will be in vain. If followers do not see the leader as trustworthy, they will be less likely to be honest and the goals will be harder to attain. Leaders serve as role models and if they want trustworthy followers, they must set an example of that in themselves. Leaders must show that they are honest and worthy of trust from others in order to successful in their endeavors. Leaders should be friendly and approachable. By definition a leader is a person who leads or commands a group however, I believe a leader should be a person who inspires his team excel in the worst of conditions. A leader should be extraordinary reliable as the team should know that the leader could guide them to the best of his abilities toward their goal. A leader should be persistent as they should be the motivational force leading the group. A leader should be patient and calm knowing that quality takes time and that the individual member of his team have obstacles to overcome on their own part.
A leader is described as a person who guides or directs a group, but I believe it is so much more than that. A leader is a person that inspires people to do good and does good themselves. Due to my extensive volunteer work, I believe that I qualify as a fairly good leader. My outstanding leadership is shown clearly in my participation in community theatre. I have participated in the theatre community at Top Hat Productions, a theatre company located near me, for a couple years. My leadership in this company is shown through my ability to get people involved and my own participation.

I agree with this but to be a good leader there are some qualities a person should have. A good leader should want to make positive changes for themselves and the group as a whole. Good leaders should be able to keep control and complete the task at hand while simultaneously still treating their followers with respect. A leader infuses a sense of positivity and directs others to reach the specified goal. I think a leader should be open minded and should be able to accept new ideas and new perspectives. A leader should be more optimistic and have hope. Being trustworthy is a great quality a leader should possess and should be able to demonstrate. A leader also needs to be trusted.

(2016). p.33). There are many traits that a leader must have to be able to be successful. Three that come to mind are trustworthy or honest, motivated, and knowledgeable. Ever leader needs to be honest and have the trust of those who are following them. This is essential for any plan or idea to be carried out steadily. Also, open communication cannot happen if one does not trust their leader. Next, a leader must be motivated and have energy. If a leader is not motivated, those who are following them are also not going to be motivated either. Someone has to be able to push others to keep up the hard work to get to where they need to be. Lastly, a leader needs to be knowledgeable. At work, often when faced with something that I do not know the answer to, I go to my charge nurse who is very knowledgeable on almost all situations that may arise. If lacking any vital knowledge, staff under that leader will not have anyone to go to in times of need. This leads to the follower being lost and not knowing what the next step is in their situation. All of these traits are what I like to see in a leader in my work
Throughout my short life, I have come to realize that a leader does not necessarily, although they may, maintain a defined position of leadership. A leader is one who will rise to the challenge even when the odds in opposition. A leader will tackle any barrier that stands in the way of the goal.
