The trip I went to was in May 1804. It began at St. Louis with Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and Thomas Jefferson. It took us 2 years and 4 months to get back from the trip and we discovered 122 types of animals, 170 types of plants, and made 140 maps where we were at and there was none passageway from the northwest to even go across through. We found a clear spot to settle in and out to take a break off all of the adventurous trips. William Clark discovered a new type of animal that it looked like a fox and run swiftly, and I told Meriwether Lewis about the animal that Clark discovered and he drew the animal in his journal and thought of the name that could be,’’THE SWIFT FOX.’’ After a while he discovered some plants and 1 was
In order to know the land better, President Jefferson sent Meriwether Lewis and William Clark on an expedition to find a route from St. Louis, Missouri to the Pacific Ocean.
The expedition came together and they arrived at the continental divide. They struggled but eventually crossed the Rocky Mountains on horses. Lewis and Clark and all of the men were starving so the Nez Perce gave them dried fish and roots. The Corps continued their journey in canoes down the Clearwater River, the Snake River and finally the Columbia River. Lewis and Clark then reached the Pacific Ocean and they accomplished their main goal.
The expedition ended September 23, 1806, and they had been gone for 2 years, 4 months, and 9 days. Lewis and Clark had traveled a total of 8,000 miles. They had been gone for so long people thought they were dead, but in reality only one person had died along the way. People didn’t think this expedition was important because they were not the first non-natives to be in that land. When they came back and people heard the news that they did not find a water route to the Pacific, they thought that Lewis and Clark failed because that was one of the main reasons for the expedition. Not to mention Lewis and Clark did not publish their journals until 1814, but all their journals came out in 1905, and that's almost 100 years later (World Book: The Lewis and Clark Expedition). Although some people did not think greatly of the expedition, many people thought it was the greatest American expedition of that time. People commemorated the expedition by naming stamps, trails, places, and making monuments in honor of the
It was about a 500-mile trek across the northern part of the state of Nevada from my house to where we were going to set up camp for the hunt. We had planned for two solid days of scouting the vast Jarbidge wilderness for elk. We had no guide so between me, my dad, and my uncle, lots of work was about to be done in the weekend.
Their expedition lasted 159 days and they traveled nearly 1700 miles. They explored much of the Great Basin Desert and mountains of the west, including the rediscovery of the Grand Canyon.
We started on 371 heading towards Brainerd/Baxter area going through Fort Ripley and Crow Wing going to Baxter. We stopped in at Fleet Farm to get some gear, and we also stopped in at S & W Bait and Tackle to get some bait for the trip. After we came out of Baxter, we went through Nisswa passing many different kinds and shapes of lakes with beautiful views. When we got to Pequot Lakes, the view
They stayed at the fort until April 1805. So far, Lew and Clark had discovered 108 new plant species and 68 mineral types. Sacagawea became increasingly important to the expedition as she showed the men things to eat like licorices, white apples, wild artichokes, and many other edible plants and roots. She also saved many important tools and artifacts when the boat tipped in a storm. On June 13, 1805, Lewis reached the great Missouri falls and the crew was forced to carry all their gear, supplies, and canoes up a seventeen-mile trail to the top of the falls. This took them almost an entire month. On August 8, 1805, Sacagawea recognized Beaverhead rock from her childhood and knew they were close to Shoshone lands. On August 17, 1805, the expedition arrives at the Shoshone camp, where Sacagawea recognized the chief as her long-lost brother Cameahwait, and they were given horses to continue their journey. On August 31, 1805, the expedition set out for the Bitterroot Mountains with many horses they had received from the Shoshone. On September 11, 1805, the Corps started the steep climb into the Bitterroot Range of the Rocky Mountains they will travel more than 160 miles. On October 16, 1805, they reached the Colombia River where the rapids were so dangerous that nearby Indian tribes stood by to watch the white men drown. In November when they found the Pacific, the
The corps of discovery crossed the range of Mountains that took them to Orofino,Idaho and into the headwaters of the Columbia River. They used an elderly Native American guide although they had gotten lost once ,but got back on track. Snow began to fall and there was very little food.Eventually, after starving they ate their horses in a stew. Finally, the corps were in what is now the border of Idaho and Washington.
I never learnt anything about the U.S. history before I came to a high school in Boston. The stories about Native Americans and exploration of west had always attracted me because nothing like that ever happened in the Chinese history. And this is the reason why I am going to do the Lewis and Clark Expedition. They were just so brave to explore a land that the Americans knew nothing about. Not only their spirit, the journals they kept and the maps they made were also precious gifts for the explorers after them.
On May 14, 1804, our journey began to the explore the Louisiana Territory. We set out early in the morning, our plan is to explore eight miles a day or more if we can.Lewis began to map out the landscape of the unexplored territory we saw many plants that had not been seen before.Eight days passed since we began the journey it was going well we finally began to walk on land after traveling about 40 miles on water.
Having spent his time in Brae, Sir Charles Dalton became a hunting partner with Robert Oulton. Notably, a common interest between them were the rare silver and black fox, as they were mutations of the commonly known red fox. Incidentally, by the dawn of the 1880s, Sir Charles Dalton attempted to breed a few silver foxes that were in captivity, but was inconsistently successful during the process. Considering Oulton’s knowledge on wild animals due to his experience in hunting, in 1894 a partnership formed between the two men for their purposes of starting a business. Moreover, Dalton provided two foxes for the initial test and handled the business responsibilities, while, Oulton provided land, pens and food for the foxes while lending a hand
The short story “The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allan Poe is about how a nameless narrator gets invited to come see his childhood friend. Because his childhood friend named Roderick Usher, is feeling emotionally and physically unwell, the narrator rushes to be with his friend. During the narrator’s stay at the house many strange things like noises and death begin to happen. Towards the end of the story the narrator begins to hallucinate being under the power of Roderick Usher and the house.
After breaking out into the mainstream in 2012 and 2013 with hits like “Tony Montana” and “Turn on the Lights,” 2014 was a rough year for Future. The autotuned, Atlanta rapper saw his second full-length commercial release, “Honest,” perform weakly on the charts and alienate his original fanbase. The Atlanta hip hop scene felt it was too commercialized, the project being loaded with every trending producer and big name feature, and that it drifted too far away from what made Future’s music compelling in the first place. On top of this, his high profile relationship with R&B star, Ciara, saw its end shortly after “Honest” was released. Rumors of infidelity circulated.
It would be quite ridiculous if I was not to write down my experiences as I go through this trip. You do not see the tallest trees in the world everyday. Although, if I want to get even remotely close to seeing them every day, the least I can do is keep track of my adventures inside of a journal so I can read them later on in my life and remember the time I had on this trip. I went to Redwood National Park and I experienced a true, American national treasure
Sharon and Kristy, without your confidence, I did not have the courage to make the leap to the upgrade. I was afraid that I would lose the ring forever and we had many wonderful years of living tied up in the history of our rings. You gave me courage and again I thank you.
