I believe that every student is a future employee; every person’s intelligence and abilities are far more complicated than his or her scores on standardized tests. To become a holistic and authentic teacher, begin by knowing yourself. Knowing what you can change and what you cannot change as a teacher is very important. A teacher’s values, beliefs, integrity, emotions, and needs determines who they are as a teacher. Being authentic and credible as a teacher will help gain the confidence and courage to acknowledge your limitations and your authentic self. Holistic and authentic teachers should value and embrace diversity and different learning styles that makes all of us unique human beings. They should foster collaboration instead of competition that will help students feel connected. Teachers should use real-life experience and current information in presenting ‘facts’ to the student about today’s trends and issues.

TELLING MY STORY: THE HOLISTIC/AUTHENTIC/CREDIBLE/TEACHER
Holistic teachers, from my perspective are those who are able to utilize their authenticity to create meaningful learning experiences for their students and to transform their conscious state to a higher level of learning in order to be credible. A teacher should work hard at maintaining credibility. According to Brookfield (1990), a student perceptions of credibility are based on the following four behaviors: (1) a
The Minister’s Black Veil and the Scarlet Letter, both by Nathaniel Hawthorne are very similar theme wise, because both stories deal with the main characters being scrutinized because of something they did. One theme I want to focus on is hypocrisy., because it plays a major part in both stories. For example, in Minister’s Black Veil, Mr. Hooper is shunned due to his black veil, and in the Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne is shunned because she is an adulterer. Because of this, the townspeople disassociate themselves with both characters, and have a demeanor in which they feel like they are better than them. It’s hypocritical to think that because people are not perfect and commit sins everyday. With that being said, you shouldn’t act any different
First and foremost, an educator’s commitment should be to the student. She should be caring, honest, and fair. She should be clear and concise with policies, always maintaining control of her class. She should build up not break down. She should explore ways to enhance the learning experience so that her class does is not lost in a sea of boredom. She should be diligent in giving her students the best of what her field of study has to offer.
Facilitating a foundation in academic or philosophical pedagogy can help form a path for the educator, a path to better understanding teaching, education, learning and learners. Often, most of the programs designed for learners and the curriculum is often derived from theories. Understanding theories can help guide a teacher through their education journey. Sometimes, teachers may struggle with classroom organisation or implementing the curriculum in a considerate, all-encompassing and engaging way, especially if you are a CRT or Graduate Teacher - and often these concepts can help inspire and encourage teachers. To be an empowered teacher means your classroom and students will be empowered learners, and that is the best type of learning. There are many theories that have contributed to education as a body and has many of these theories help educational departments plan curriculums to benefit not only teachers but also all students. What makes for a great teacher is considering the characteristics of the local community as well involving students’ families’ in the school body. Influences that help shape a teacher’s identity can include…
Teaching is an extremely important profession as we are responsible for training up the future generations of our community, country and in effect, the world. In order to be a successful and effective teacher there are some basic skills and competencies that one must possess. The experiences that students have inside (and outside) our classrooms, schools and various other institutes will shape and mould their approach to our subjects and to life in general. Therefore, it requires a certain level of skill and training to be deemed professionally fit to enter into this career path and even then, continuous
As a teacher, I will work to fully provide opportunities for authentic learning, where every child feels valued, safe and included. My goal will be to find occasions every day to nurture independent learning, along with peer support that promotes a sense of personal growth and achievement. I recognize that every child has strengths and weaknesses, special talents, and specific needs, regardless of individual challenges. My objective will be to model appropriate behavior and show acceptance of everyone
This assignment will critically reflect and analyse a microteaching session I presented to my peers in a clinical placement regarding Nursing management of chest drains. I will define reflection; teaching, learning and the rationale for choosing this topic will be clearly outlined in this paper. The preparation, planning, implementation and evaluation will also be incorporated. This assignment will be structured using Gibbs (1988) reflective model cited in Modular Training Course, 2003 because of its simplicity. Analysis will permeate through each stage of the Gibbs reflective model. Finally I will conclude by reflecting on my role as a joint practitioner outlining areas of personal, professional growth, identifying my strength, weakness
several precepts for teachers by which they must guide their focus. By caring, Noddings writes, a teacher is pursuing, “an education for whole persons,” which, “must address social, emotional, and ethical issues, as well as academic.” (238, Educating Whole People) When teachers present several different viewpoints on controversial issues, teachers do not teach students to be relativistic. Rather, by empowering students to explore and navigate through the issues which are most important to them, teachers will inherently be showing students the importance
Reflective. Outstanding teachers take time to reflect on their own practice and on student learning, asking themselves questions and really seeking to find the answers. Part of being reflective is using data to inform future teaching, really wrestling with the numbers and information we get from students about their learning so that we can modify our instruction to best suit their needs.
Participants discussed how a coaching culture could be created across the Health Services and spoke of models used in other organisations where the line managers are trained in coaching skills and approach supervision and management of teams with a coaching approach and style. Managers in some organisations engage in this managerial style which complements the coaching service and embeds a coaching culture within the organisation.
Teaching is a profession that is considered to be a rewarding challenging and complex role. An effective teacher does not simply teach knowledge their students and instead aims to arm students with the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that will prepare students for life-long learning. The constructivist theories developed by Piaget and Vygotsky have impacted on the way that teachers teach and this has changed the approach of teaching to place a greater importance on the teacher instead to act as a facilitator of learning in an open, constructivist environment and providing students with the tools to challenge themselves to develop both academically and personally. The education of students within classrooms of today is
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve
As children, we absorb information and learn from experiences that mold us into who we are. Many individuals impact a child’s life, but the most powerful and influential role lies in a devoted teacher, a teacher provides growth to students as a gardener would to a garden of flowers. Each child can bloom into a thriving flower so long as you water their garden with optimism, love, patience, and guidance. Throughout my educational experiences I was lucky enough to have educators who poured their knowledge and optimism into me, and now I would like to reciprocate that back to students who are in the position I was once in. Balancing life and school is hard enough for a student, but a powerful and caring teacher can steer you in the right direction. In this autobiography you will read about my educational background, experiences that influenced my decision to become a teacher, and what I believe the role of a teacher should be in a student’s life.
As a teacher, I believe that I play a crucial role in the success of every learning process. To guarantee that learning will take place, I make sure to create a learning environment that is relevant to the students’ background. Throughout my teaching experience, I learned how to love my students,
Imagine you are dreaming being a teacher, you must accept that there are no doubt that knowledge is the first quality of a good teacher. A good teacher need to enlarge his/her general knowledge on culture, society, biology, geography… to provide students what they want to know. Beside, a good teacher must be a person who are open to change. He/she must know “the only real constant in life is change”. There is a place not only for tradition but also for new ways,
When I think about teachers that I have had in the past, several different ones come to my mind. Each of these educators stands out in my mind for a variety of diverse reasons. Whether it is their sense of humor, their tactfulness, their love of the subject matter, their fanatical and sporadic behavior, or their yearning to be childish themselves, I can still remember at least one quality of every teacher I have ever encountered. Every one of these teachers conveyed subject material to their students just as they were educated and employed to do. However, I trust that every professional in the world has an abundance of opportunity for improvement; teachers could discover and improve themselves merely by having
