“Small town big heart,” they say locked away behind their cold immaculate castle gates that rest on the remains of the previous farmland and plains. The collective heart beats but only at a convenient time suiting parties involved. “A place where everyone matters,” they utter as their motto in indistinguishable monotone voices. The people are too wrapped up in their everyday lives to ever be concerned about their neighbor, they look through life with gilded glasses. It’s as if a fog had descended slowly creeping into their view distorting what they once held most dear.
Though few literary templates have been able to stand the test of time, the Hero’s Journey, or “monomyth”, has the distinction of being present in the literature and mythology of almost every single culture that has possessed written language. The term “monomyth” was coined by Joseph Campbell, an American mythological research, in his book entitled The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Since his groundbreaking analysis and compilation, thousands of writers, directors, and producers have applied the basic elements of the monomyth to their own media. One of the most successful applications of the monomyth to a non-literary medium are the Star Wars films, originally created by George Lucas. The most recent addition to the Star Wars saga was released
There are many steps of “The Hero’s Journey”. The first step of The Hero’s Journey is the ‘Ordinary World’. The ‘Ordinary World’ allow us to get to know the Hero and identify with him before the Journey begins. This step refers to the hero 's normal life at the start of the story.
Marlee watched as the first visitor approached the door from the upstairs window. He was sitting upstairs cooking shrimp in a pot of oil. He was kind of confused to see a crazed person approach the abandon house at 9 p.m. This visitor looked old and weary. It was an old lady who was carrying a purse, while she was walking up to the house she took out a key like she lived there. Marlee was so scared he thought he was in the wrong house. He quickly called Max and told him to get over to the house right away! The old lady walked inside and started to walk up the stairs. She soon opens the creaky door who reveals frightened Marlee sitting in a boxy chair in the corner. Thats when she started screaming at the top of her lungs, her head was turning red like a cherry, it looked like her head was going to explode. Marlee took off running.

I was born from the gravel and clay. The clay was kneaded by the hand of the gods, and it was made to be a tool that is capable of taking on infinite shapes. When I opened my eyes in a wilderness, I have seen the original scenery in the world. It is the boundless earth, the vast sky and the city which stand at the distant horizon.
Let me tell you a short story about this boy. It was 9 o'clock in the afternoon when his parent asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he said with enthusiasm "I want to be a doctor", not knowing what it is. After that we just went about our days. Ten years later, he's a senior in junior high school getting ready to embark on the road where many have failed. He did what he had to do so that he can graduate. Graduation day was here and pretty quickly. His parents said to him, "no more fun and games, you are going to enter high school. All I want from you is to pass your class of high grades , graduate and go on to college to pursue your career to become a doctor." This kid heard a lot of things when it comes to becoming a doctor and
There was once a time where Americans traveled into a great wilderness known as the West to discover their destiny. They packed up their whole lives and left the familiar behind, all for a chance to discover something new. It is natural as humans to want to discover something fresh and exhilarating, and for me I wanted to unravel the mystery that the West held. The West called to me like a siren of the ocean, and I knew I would not rest until I fulfilled my urge to travel to the West. Like the settlers before me I uprooted my whole life. I boarded a 7 AM flight to a small town just outside of Billings, Montana, known as Huntley. This small ranching community would be the set where I would learn things about myself that I never thought
Each and every person has his or her own story, and standing behind it, is a Hero's Journey. Could your family member one day become your enemy? Will it stay like this forever? Standing there at the rowdy airport gate, anxiously waiting for my cousin to step foot on the entrance door was like waiting for a newborn sibling to come home for the first time. Soon after, it finally hit me, "I finally have a sister! Imagine all the things we could do together! We could go shopping, get boba afterschool, watch movies until midnight, and so much more!" It was like a dream come true, until reality crushed my dreams into mere dust.
I have always been the littlest one in the room ever since I can remember. I’m the youngest in my immediate family so obviously I’m the smallest. Even my cousins who are younger than me are at least 5 inches taller than. Even at seven or eight years old I was still a little shorter than average. I’ve now grown immune to this, but there is one memory that sticks out to me when I was younger, the first time I ever rode a horse.
The Heroes Journey is a literary trope that has been used across time to tell a story in an outline step, this has been used in myths and the religious book in Christianity called the Bible. I will be comparing a modern literary work from J.R.R. Tolkien The Lord of the Rings and the story of Jesus and how it relates to the hero’s journey. To begin we must understand what is the hero’s journey, it is a twelve-step outline for a character in the story that he/she goes through. It was first identified by Joseph Campbell, an American writer and mythologist.
Myra’s confession sparks interesting thought in my mind upon reading it. I first wondered if she was merely confessing out loud at the church alter because this is what she had been taught to do in order to receive forgiveness or that Myra really wanted someone to talk to. I would not assume that because she told me that she had committed the unpardonable sin that she wants to have counseling regarding it. I would remind her that there is no sin that God wouldn’t forgive us for and that God loves us so much that no matter what are sins are His only begotten son has already died for them. I would ask her if she wanted to privately discuss her feelings. If she was not interested in discussing her feelings I would not intrude or pressure
