Weekends are usually spent cooling down and waiting for the next school week. F I spend my saturdays and sundays usually watching football with my family. With the interest of breaking my norms, I knew I could use weekends to help others in need. While relaxing is great , but trying new things may give me the opportunity to meet new people and experiencing something new. So I decided one weekend to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in the program, “ A Brush for Kindness.” Our job was to paint a house for a elderly woman who was unable to afford to paint her house. On the day of the event, I wake up with a buzz of excitement. I could not wait to hear what part of the house I was painting or what group I was assigned with. This event would

Christ house is an organization that empowers, heals spiritually, physically, and mentally, and providing clients with medical assistance in areas of their lives that needs stabilizing. Their demographics target the Washington, DC area, and clients are adult males who are predominately African–Americans. Their main goal is to provide health care to those who are sick and homeless, and addressing issues in order to break the cycle of homelessness. They also provide help with building resumes for those who wish to enter into the work force. This is one of their many ways of building and promoting community, and finding ways to eradicate negative behaviors that involve things such as the use of illicit drugs and involvement with the criminal justice
The organization I have picked to analysis is 7 Hills Homeless Center. 7 Hills is an organization that is fighting to help the homeless and to fight for an end of homelessness in Arkansas.
There are multiple organizations that offer help to the homeless, or give them the necessary materials to their survival. Food Banks, Soup Kitchens and Homeless Shelters give similar opportunities to the displaced. They tend to the individuals that are less fortunate in the community. There are rules that come along with attending to these places, for example, you have to be clean and not use substances and you are not allowed to carry any weapons of any sort. Although these places offer food and homes they don’t offer medical care. Well, luckily there is an organization that does offer medical care and incorporates faith within their work. This organization named Christ House, offers many opportunities to become a new, also to turn your life

The non-profit organization, Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. (FOHA) officially started in Rhode Island in August of 2007. Roie Greigo, the founder and President of FOHA, founded the organization. For 25 years, Roie save thousands of animals, which motivated her to start an organization designated to help these innocent beings. She went from Texas to Massachusetts and now officially resides in the state of Rhode Island. Roie and her best friend Doris built this organization from the ground up, in which their overall mission is to rescue small dogs with big hearts and connect these homeless pets to loving parents and great homes (FOHA).
My job is to take care of those pesky errands that tend to ruin the weekend, make sure that the household runs smoothly, and keep the kids going to all of their activities. I took up building and refurbishing furniture and we even decided to host a small group from our church every other Friday. Things were going well and all of the gears and cranks that help run this family were moving in perfect timing, like the insides of the Big Ben Clock Tower.
One way of helping the homeless is by volunteering at your local homeless shelter. Volunteering is a very beneficial way of helping the homeless. “The most productive way to get started helping the homeless is to join forces with a well-established operation.” (“4 Ways You Can Help the Homeless in Your Community”) As said in the quote, join forces with a well-established operation. When you volunteer at your local homeless shelter you are not only helping your community out, but you are also helping the homeless in and around that area. “Volunteer your hobbies - Every one of us has something we can give the homeless. Wherever our interests may lie -- cooking, repairing, gardening, and photography -- we can use
When I first walked into the event it was actually like a breath of fresh air. There were people laughing and screaming and running. I wanted to join immediately. The fame was simple each person would receive a name tag at the point of entry and there would be a secret code of colors and shapes on each name tag that

When I help my grandma and the neighbors I help with things around the house, babysit, and do yard work. Babysitting isn’t exactly my favorite thing, but I do it to help out. Most of the things I do I don’t mind doing. I love helping out.
Homelessness is occurring more often in the poor economy, but there are several states in America attempting to rectify this. Recently there have been plenty of articles written on this subject, one article is “Tiny homes for the homeless: an affordable solution catches on” which was written in 2014 by a freelance writer named Erica Lundahl. Another article on ending homelessness was written by Business Insider columnist, Natasha Bertrand, entitled “Utah found a brilliantly effective solution for homelessness”. Although, both articles contain useful facts on why building homes for the homeless is effective, “Tiny homes for the homeless: an affordable solution catches on” is superior because the article states a wide range of information.
This reading focuses around the life and unfortunate circumstances of a woman named Sandy. Sandy is a single mother that is faced with the increasing cost of living in her neighborhood, which has forced her to seek out other places for her and her children to live. In the reading, Sandy looks for a place that is closer to where she works, and is in a good neighborhood for her two children. Unfortunately, she begins to realize that with her income, these demands were not easily met. The homes close to where she worked were way too expensive, and the homes in her price range were way too far away from her work. So Sandy was placed in a predicament which forced her to buy a home that was farther away from work, and smaller than she expected. She
