For this assignment, the two countries I decided to use for my reflection is the United states and Mexico. I chose these regions specifically because they are so close to each other, but yet really different from each other. It blows my mind that two countries bordering each other can look and act so different. While the Unites States is part of the Anglo-American region, Mexico lies in the Latin American Region. This region barrier can account for the drastic changes between the two countries. The average American when asked what they think of America will say that America is the greatest country in the world. They will advocate that America created democracy and is the country where you can achieve the goal of the self-made man. While …show more content…
There are arguments for both sides, but everyone has their own opinions and put some priorities over others. On my map, I did put racism near the east side of the US. I experience some form of racism weekly, whether I hear about it via news, social media, or in real life; which is very unfortunate. The second country I chose was Mexico, located in the Latin America region. When I think of Mexico, I think of a gorgeous country with tasty food and a rich culture. Mexico for me is a country that I have never been too. It’s almost like a fantasy I’ve yet to experience. Mexico is a place that always comes up in stories. My friend had the most exciting week of his life; guess where he spent it. MEXICO. My inspiration talks about how he became who he was; and guess what country he was able to make that transformation in. MEXICO. For me Mexico is that place you go to enjoy life and live more life. In a Yucatan Times article called “Mexico is world’s second most beautiful country” (if you haven’t already guessed by the title) Mexico is labeled as the world’s second most beautiful country due to its beaches, wildlife, and historical landmarks. While Mexico is beautiful and all, Mexico is also a really impoverished country. Article “10 facts about poverty in Mexico” says that “Around half of the population lives in poverty; about 10 percent of people live in extreme poverty” (1). Lots of
In the article “Mexico or America” a family stresses the outcome of their survival when Trump comes into presidency. The wife has a job and is legal in America along with her 2 daughters, but her husband is illegal. Personally, I wouldn't want to be alone. Especially if my husband and children were legal in the United States and I only had so long until the government found out. If the government didn't find out you would still struggle to live the average life. Rachel told Ivri, “if he wins, we're leaving.” Also, many celebrities are saying the same. I strongly believe we are one country and no matter who the president is we need to stick together. I also believe it should be easier for illegals to become legal. Trump isn't very
The United States of America and Mexico compare and contrast their differences when it comes to education, homeless rates, and their overall standard of living. The U.S and Mexico compare when it comes to homeless rates seeing as the numbers are increasing each year. As for education, Mexico lacks standard education, where as the United States has a higher standard for education. The overall standard of living in both countries is probably the biggest difference the two countries have. Mexico has many prosperous areas to it, but for the most part people who live in Mexico, live poor and on the streets. Children in Mexico usually have to get street jobs in order to help their families with poverty. The United States has its own level of
Living in two different countries can be a great experience that can change someone's way of thinking. We live in a world with many countries and different types of people, making us compare each other and ask ourselves how is this different or similar. For example, in Brazil, they speak Portuguese, but in Colombia they speak Spanish. That's one difference. Yet, Brazil and Colombia are in the same continent. Now, that's one similarity. In my case, I have lived in Venezuela and in the United States and sometimes I start comparing many things like economy, government, culture, topography, weather, traditions, etc. Many people don't notice how many difference and similarities two countries can have.
Any social revolution by definition changes the structure of a society by removing power from one entity and bringing power to another entity. Typically social revolutions are when a dominant power is overthrown by the people who it dominates over. One part of society must be sacrificed for what is believed as the general good of the society. There most common reason for revolution in Latin America is industrial and economic power in the country. How each country handles the change in industrial and economic power is different, yet all most Latin American countries choose to nationalize parts of the industrial sector.
Mexico and the United States are countries that have several aspects to relate and compare the differences that exist between them. Each country has its own characteristics, and is a way of being able to identify to other countries. In this case, Mexico and United States are independent parents with an extensive history where we can know aspects of each one of them. Mexico is characterized by being a country of religious traditions and U.S. for being the first world power. In addition to the above, it is important to highlight the differences existing between the countries of Mexico and United Stated as well as their similarities.
Imagine waking up to a beautiful view every day, without a care in the world about the expenses of life, but instead enjoying the perfect weather that makes life just that easier. This would be the perfect description for the beautiful land of Mexico, that has proven itself to be one of the finest places to live in. This country would be one of the top three locations people would consider moving to when they no longer find their way of living in their country to be worthwhile. They are not only attracted to the great climate, but the affordable cost of living and job opportunities that are offered to them. Most people decide to move to Mexico when they retire so that they can enjoy the luxurious resorts and attractions. In fact, Mexico has
For decades, the United States and Mexico have had many friendly relations on the matters that involved trade, security and migration. However, with the new presidency, these relationships that both nations have spent years trying to build is in jeopardy. It seems as if every day US-Mexico relations continue to hit new lows as President Donald Trump continues criticizing Mexico and their government.
Reuters says that studies show that Mexicans read less than three books a year on average, a product of low education levels and poverty. The USA is one of the richest countries compared to many other countries like Mexico. And the USA has a lot of funding to help families who don’t have money to get an education compared to Mexico who only funds a small portion to their education system. The Education system in Mexico and the USA are very different by the Discipline, Types of schools, and school system.
The relationship with Mexico is vital to the United States and the economy of North America. It is one that cannot be ignored or treated with carelessness, especially in the regions where it has impact on the lives and livelihood of millions of people. September 11, 2001 changed the way the United States would secure its borders from neighboring Canada and Mexico, and those who enter it with the intent to do harm, forever. The border with Mexico in particular became a matter of special focus out of fear that terrorists might use the relatively porous Southwest border as an entry point into the United States to carry out further terrorist attacks against the homeland (Lee, Wilson, Lara-Valencia, de la Parra, Van Schoik, Patron-Soberano, Olson, Selee, 2013).
Their economy is slowly growing and there also seems to be a growth in the luxury retail sector of the country. Although there has been advanced affluent growth in the country the division between classes is still evident due to it’s poverty class living under a couple of thousand dollars a month. “The country may see a slight downfall in 2016 but should regain some momentum in 2017” ( http://www.worldbank.org). “Statistics show improvement and state Mexico’s economy should grow 3.7% by 2017” (Flannery,
With Mexico’s nearest neighbor being the U.S., it’s no secret that many impoverished Mexicans will be drawn here in search of work. Whether their families have been here for generations or arrived as recent immigrants, Mexican Americans have helped to shape the U.S. and will do so even more in the years to come. With Mexico experiencing their lowest economic growth since 2009, experts believe that the Mexican economy was in a full blown recession during the first quarter of 2014 (Knowland, 2014). Due to the lack of economic growth and with Mexico’s current poverty
Another reason that Mexico feels that their close proximity to the United States can be considered negative is that it is difficult having a three thousand mile border with one of the most powerful and industrialized nations in the world. Mexico is in the shadows of the United States. During the time of the Pofiriato the West in the United States was developing, technology was expanding and their importance on the global scene was increasing. Mexico wanted to be able to follow the United States in some of these aspects. Pofirio Diaz believed that if Mexico was to obtain foreign investment, they would have to portray an image of prosperity and peace. In order to display this desired image Diaz would spend exorbitant amounts of money on buildings so that other nations would see this growthand becp,e confident in Mexico’s potential for investment. To obtain this image, Diaz silenced the people in Mexico and ruled as a dictator. This image of Diaz can be observed in the film Viva Zapata.
Mexico has a poverty rate that’s reported to be around 46.2% between 2012 and 2014 translating into an increase of .07%. During this time, the Mexican Government reported that two million Mexicans slipped into poverty. The poverty level has risen slightly due to access to education, health, clean water and income as the basis of the problem.
Since Donald Trump has been elected, world politics are in trouble, free - trade agreements gradually canceled and the objection of immigrants from Mexico. These problems have led the United States are in an alarming condition. The United States will meet many difficulties in controlling these situations inside the country. The relationship between the United States and Mexico have never reconciled because of Mexican Wall. Latin America will not be a priority in the external relations from the White House in the coming period. In fact, to this point of U.S foreign policy with Latin America, Mr. Trump has no idea about it. However, many experts can offer a few comments on the relationship in the future between Mr. Trump and Latin America.
Mexico is a relatively large country when it comes to population. The average country has around 34 million citizens whereas Mexico has 127.5 million as of 2016. Being 3.75 times larger than the average, there is room to have more poverty than other countries. Except that doesn’t excuse having the highest poverty rate, so what’s the issue? To start out, there are a staggering 55.3 million people living in poverty (Buitre, 2016). That’s 43% of the entire population who are poor. And yet on the other side, there are 16 billionaires in Mexico and 145,000 millionaires. That’s an incredibly small percent (0.1%), and one that makes one think about how fortunate those people (plus their families) really are.
