Hey Ellie,
What co-ops are you looking to apply for? I did a summer program at Hahnemann and absolutely loved it. I have similar ambitions and hope to eventually be a chief nursing officer. You should look into the MACY`s Undergraduate Leadership Program. It might be able to help you with your career path. Being able to help in a bigger way after working at the bedside is my ultimate goal. I am very excited to see how we can relate this our end career goals. Looking forward to a great term.
The career that I plan on pursing would hands down have to be Certified Nursing Assistant. Some people may wonder why I decided to settle with this profession so I guess we’ll just have to take a walk down memory lane. Ever since I was a little girl I love watching nurses work. I never really realized how much I wanted to be a Certified Nursing Assistant until my grandmother took sick at home she had home aids come and see her routinely. I watched my grandmother struggle with her health issues and I also watched how caring and proficient the nurses were towards my grandmother. Seeing my grandmother go through the things she went through definitely made it clear to me that I wanted to do in life. And that was helping all others just like my
My job as a certified nursing aide or CNA is to give direct care both medical and non-medical to patients. CNA’s can work at various healthcare facilities including hospitals, outpatient departments, long term facilities, clinics, and private home. CNA’s speed a huge time in taking and recording patient vitals, collecting specimens, and providing care for patient’s needs and wants. I myself work in a hospital. Some of the main equipment used to help me perform my job is gloves, masks, protective clothing (such as throw away gowns, hair nets, shoe covers), and face shields. These items are very important as a CNA and help protect you and the patient you are caring for. The largest piece of machinery or equipment I use is a lift, called a Hoyer
In response to a recent job opening, I am writing to apply for the Certified Nursing Assistant position at Arbrook Plaza. After reading the job description on Arbrook Plaza’s website, I am confident that I meet these requirements. Therefore, becoming a part of the CNA team means believing in helping others who cannot help themselves or need further assistance.
Certified Nursing Assistant Introduction: A CNA, a Certified Nursing Assistant, is a person in the health care field who helps patients or clients with healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. CNAs are the backbone of nursing. They are the foundation that makes patient care possible and easier for everybody. Being a CNA is not always an easy job but they will do what needs to be done.
Becoming a Nurse’s Assistant doesn’t require a whole lot of extensive education but a lot of hard work is needed to be put into this career. Being a Nurse’s Assistant requires you to have a high school diploma and specific training in certain fields (BLS.gov). So you will have to have graduated from high school obviously, but you will also need to have training in the nursing fields. You can start training while you’re still in school. Which would mean you could have a job as soon as you graduate or even before. You can take basic classes in high school and taking health occupation classes, and taking health and nurse’s aide training (MSHealth.org). You can talk to your school counselor to see about signing up for these classes, or you can
One conversation that I have had with my co-workers and boss which was certainly a debatable topic was the pay of a CNA. Certified Nursing Assistants duties and responsibilities are basically care for the elderly as they are not able to do it themselves. This includes many things that most individuals would never do. I believe that CNA’s should be paid just as much as a nurse or LVN, and not minimum pay as it is such a hard job. Its not the same as working at the mall as a sales associate or a fast food place, and most times these jobs tend to get paid more. My boss who is an RN, certainly disagreed with me as she paid so much for her education, and I honestly understand that because I am working towards my BSN, its beyond expensive. She made
Are there any medical assistant organizations that medical assistants can join? Since the medical field is growing there are plenty of opportunities for medical assistants to join an organization. Medical assistant organizations vary thought the world; in the paper I will be introducing you to organizations within the U.S, Texas, and Houston area. Here in the Texas area we are known for having the Houston Medical center with that center comes organizations and jobs for Medical assistants.
My trade I decided to pick and further my career in is CAN. My trade at St. Louis Job Corps is located on Lindell Site downtown St. Louis. The trade is Certified Nursing Assistant and it deals with working with elderly people. Working and choosing this trade deals with all variations of people but mostly elderly people. Most CNA’s work at nursing homes, hospitals, or you can either do Home Health Care. All CNA’s are mainly supposed to wear scrubs, closed in athletic shoes for the time you are there and from the time you clock out. Some jobs allow the coworkers to wear capris and depending on the working place it doesn’t matter what color the scrubs are and on some Fridays some working environments have days you wear can Jeans on Fridays. It would be much more professional and comfortable for you to wear
Teenagers have enough stress as it is right? Adolescence is an awkward time of transition from childhood to adulthood which can be more than scary for most. Between spending time with family, making friends, doing homework, participating in sports or other recreational activities, and growing up in general, who has time to get a job? Although it can add to the stress of teenage life, getting a job has more pros than cons. My experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Center has been a learning experience about responsibility, patience, and compassion.
My search in becoming medical assistant has me wanting to move forward with the career choice that I have selected. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics medical assistant are high in demand. The four reasons why I am choosing this career path is because I feel like I can really make in difference in someone life by helping others, meeting people, the job is rewarding and has great job prospects. A medical assistant salary when it comes to the education and training and after earning a certificate from a medical assisting program graduates earn an average of $30,000 a year. To become a successful clinical assistant you must have a certain personality and learn to deal with stress and also disappointments
Shacondra Burnette is the spark that ignited my fire to pursue the nursing field. A close family relative and hard-working passionate woman, she had gotten me my first job as a personal care assistant. Even without certification I was making great money and gaining a new experience in the nursing field. After being at it for a year straight, I decided to take it further and get my certification as a nursing assistant.
“They sound great... Oh… Wait we can’t hire them”, my boss stated as she hands me a small pile of applications back. “Well, why not? They have the proper training and they’ve been a CNA for as long as I have. You know just as well as I do that we need all the help we can get. Especially, since I’m on the desk until my doctor releases me to work on the floor.” “I know we need the help but we already have one guy hired and we can’t hire another one. You would have to switch cares all the time because upstairs we have 5 women-only cares and at least 3 women-only cares down stairs. That would just be such a hassle if you girls are in the middle of cares with a resident and then we have to find cares you can switch with him…. It just wouldn’t be fair to you girls.”
In the Certified Nurses Assistant or CNA services, you have to be trained. The training for being a CNA you need to have basic nursing principles and do clinical work while being supervised. You also have to be qualified to be one. You need to have your High School diploma or GED, nursing assistant training, which is about 6-12 weeks, basic training skills, Anatomy/physiology credit, and infection control.
Becoming a nurse has been my career goal for as long as I can remember. From the time I was old enough, I have had jobs ranging from food service and bagging groceries at the local market, to sales. All of these things provided monetary value to me, but none fulfilled my life enough to choose that as a career path. I have always wanted to have a profession that allows me to help and serve others and my present position as a Certified Nursing Assistant has shown me that becoming a nurse would allow me to do that.
A career trajectory is a formalized plan for a successful transition into a career path that an individual has chosen. Likewise, the goal of nursing is to improve health through the advancement of knowledge therefore, improving the safety, effectiveness, and the access for healthcare. In combining these two definitions, a career trajectory in nursing advancement is to allow for clarity of direction and expected outcomes in a career by meeting the goals to advance in the healthcare field. In order to build a successful career as an advanced practitioner an individual must consider the requirements of the position and make strategic decisions in order to facilitate progression towards this goal (Feetham & Doering, 2015).
