I woke up on the very edge of my bed my blankets tossed on the floor and my head buried into a pillow. I groaned as I pushed myself off the bed picking up the blankets and laying them on the mattress. I stretched my arms and yawned as I walked over to my bathroom and twisting the knobs trying to find a perfect temperature. After my shower I dried my hair and walked to my closet to find a sensible outfit for the mid-fall weather. I finally decided on a dark blue sweater and light-denim skinny jeans before slipping on some boots and grabbing my backpack before walking downstairs to grab some breakfast. I hear a car hornk from outside and I walked outside a piece of bagel in my mouth. "Hey girl get in the car before were late" Chelsea says giving me a toothy smile. I looked to the passengers seat to see my other friend Bethany touching up her make up and so I walked to the backseat opening it up to find Gaby who was rummaging through her bag. …show more content…
Once we got to the school Chelsea parked her car and got out her heels clicking against the pavement. "Let's go ladies I don't want to be late it's bad for my- our reputation" she says with a quick smile. I rolled my eyes getting out of the car and pulling my bag over my shoulder. "You should put on some mascara" Bethany says pulling out her makeup bag. "I have some on" I quickly respond, "suit yourself, lashes are a big part of looking good" she says shoving her makeup bag back in her purse. Gaby silently exits the car and scurrying over next to Chelsea and Beth. I walked a close distance next to them as Brendan (Chelsea's boyfriend) came over and gave her a sloppy kiss on the lips. I cringed and looked away as Bethany fixed her hair in a small hand mirror. I've never seen someone care more about their appearance than
“Alright get in.” Blaise told us. He drove Camie back to her car so she could drive there with us. We made our way out of the parking lot and close to where Josie was parked, by the soccer field. Josie was making her way out of that parking lot by the time we got there, so we followed her. Blaise kept honking at her and speeding towards her as a joke. There was music blaring throughout the whole car ride until we reached Taco Bell. When we got there, we all got out and went
When I woke , I ran downstairs to make some breakfast. Nobody was home at the time. After I ate I grabbed my phone and speaker, and ran to my room to do some tumbling.
I couldn’t sleep. I looked at my somewhat dim, water powered alarm clock, wondering what time it was. 7:43. Way early. Despite being awfully comfortable, I got up, figuring I was just hungry. As I walked the the kitchen, I pondered about my snack. Carrots and orange juice usually is the best choice. ( This is actually a good midnight snack! You should try it! ) I made it to the fridge. As I opened it, I took in the cold air against my warm, cozy fur. Then I realized, that I was sweating. I dropped the blanket I had wrapped around me. Much better. I grabbed my carrots and orange juice, dragged the blanket behind me and took my time getting back to my room. I hopped onto the bed with my snack in hand, and turned on the TV with the remote. The button let out a quiet ‘click!’ as I pushed the smooth, plastic button, before the TV turned on.
At 5:30 I hear the irritating sound of the alarm and hesitantly start to wake up. When I finally manage to pull myself out of bed I slowly amble over to the bathroom and start getting ready. Many thoughts are running through my head as I try to remember where my classes are. Once I get downstairs I sit down to eat breakfast and think about the day ahead. At 6:40 I shuffle outside to wait for my ride. Eventually we get to Anderson, I pick up my humongous book bag and hope that I didn’t forget anything. When I am opening my locker my hands start shaking as I turn the lock. I get to Spanish at 7:00 and anxiously wait to see people I know walk in. Thankfully, I know a lot of girls in my class and I settle in. Once Spanish is over I walk/sprint
The air was warming up our part of the state Kansas City , I wasn't thinking . I stopped for a second I felt a cold breeze in my face , the wind was blowing at a slow pace it was warm but yet cold . I went inside , where the tv was already turned out . On the table there was a cup of Starbucks , with French toast . Someone was in here , in my own house , and since I was in the cabin , which was ten miles away from my house . I didn't notice who entered my house . I grabbed a baseball bat , set the keys down on the table and went to the living room . On the couch I found my friend, maylee . " What are you doing here maylee ?" I asked . She was just laying down eating a bag of lays , like any other white girl would . Ummm no wonder the Starbucks on the table .
When I think of the world being unified as one, I don't think of the world being unified as one race. I have never thought if we as people can be described as one race. However, I believe we as people can be described as one race. In the 3 stories I read, I learned about how different yet alike people are to each other. There is a reason why the term “human race” is used. When I think of race, I don't think of black, white, hispanic, or any term to describe someone. I don't think of these terms to divide one person from another.
Go back to a time, when smart phones, and laptop were as thick history textbooks. To a time when a whole gallon of gas cost a little more than a dollar. The year is 1998 and in this year I was born. I was given to a very loving mother and father, that with their extraordinary love gave me the unextraordinary name of David. I grew up in the wonderful city of El Paso, Texas.
Instinctively, my hand went to my hair, which doubtless was tousled, since that was its natural state. Only so much you can do to fight nature, and I’d given up some time ago. Plus, the tousled look was sort of in fashion. But for the rest, I was sure I looked just as good as Joan did, especially since I’d spent a solid hour trying looks, anticipating snide remarks like that. The result was my favorite slim, indigo skirt, black tights and flat knee-length boots, steel gray peplum top, scarf in wine, gray and black. Yep, I’d ticked all the boxes: I was decidedly New York cool.
One would like to believe that gender doesn't affect your employment prospects, right? My husband came down on orders to bring us to Benning, it was time to update ye old resume. As a CNC machinist with seven years’ experience, working in both a proprietary production shop as well as a diverse job shop, I'm qualified to set up, tear down, perform program edits and run a variety of equipment. There is, however, one large disadvantage working against me in finding employment here in the lovely state of Georgia; I'm a woman. This is an apparent deal breaker for the shops that I've applied at thus far. It's evident to me, as everything goes very smooth in the application and pre-interview process, until they find out that the "S" in "S. McPherson" stands for Stephani. The joys of being a woman in a man’s world.
I woke up to a loud-wailing scream of sirens. The sirens of the police cars and ambulance always wakes me up in the morning; it’s a tradition. Instead of getting out of bed I just lay there knowing that if I get up I’ll have to face the reality of life. I got up anyway knowing I would have to get up sooner or later. The dark wood floors were freezing. I felt like it was winter and I had just got stuck in the snow. I ran over to my drawers and quickly took out one pair of fluffy socks. I put them on at the same rate I took them out and let out a sigh of relief once I was
I was always thought of the “good” child, the one that can’t do no wrong. It was a late, cold, foggy Saturday night and the homecoming game just ended. Everyone is yelling “GEAUX DEVILS” repeatedly, pumped and ready to be life of the party. I asked friends to drive me home so I could try to get my mom to let me go out tonight. I got home to my mama who was in her bed wearing her pink gown and her dark brown hair wrapped up. Before I could even ask her to go out she told me to go get ready for bed. I hesitated and asked her about going to the party. She told me “If you don’t have a ride, then no.” I didn’t have a license at the time so driving myself was a “no no”. How will I get there? I thought about how lame I would be if I didn’t go to the party. Then it hit me. WHICH TOPIC QUESTION ARE YOU RESPONDING TO? SEND AN EMAIL TO LET ME KNOW--
impressed when I insist on checking all the urns for gold, but they don’t say anything, I just hear them muttering, when I find something important they will eat humble pie.
My Family and I were at home eating dinner. After dinner I told my mom that I had left something on top of the mountain, so she said “‘go up to get it Mary. But she didn’t want me to go alone so I went to go see if my friend was home but he wasn’t so I disobeyed my moms rules and went up by myself anyway. And it was starting to get dark so I had to get the base fast but I couldn’t find it. Now it was really dark and 2 hours had already passed and I couldn't my way off the mountain because it was so dark. And with my luck my phone died so I couldn’t call anyone for help, so I just started walking and walking after a little bit I realized I was getting nowhere so again I walked eventually I just fell and went to
Kandy asked Gary to go to the Homecoming dance with her and he said yes. Homecoming finally arrived, while waiting for the football game to end, and the dance to start, Kandy went into a chat room to talk to her online friends. They talked for over an hour. She said bye to them all and started getting ready for the dance. Quickly she put on blue finger nail and toe nail polish, to match her dress. Then she put on her make up. Slowly rubbing the cold liquid foundation all over her face, then softly dabbing the powdery cover up on. After looking at the clock, and seeing that it was nearly 9:00, she quickly brushed on her blush, carefully penciled on her eye liner, brushed on eye shadow, and gently applied mascara. She looked absolutely
Katelynn pried her eyes open. Where was she? The room was almost pitch black. Slivers of moonlight peeked through the blinds and illuminated the floor, just enough for her to see clothes piled up. Clothes. Where were her clothes? How had she wound up on the floor? And why wouldn’t that awful noise shut up? Noise. That was her phone! She crawled across the floor, sliding her hand under the bed, under the shirts, the jeans. Jeans. Wait, were those her jeans? Yes! She pulled them closer and ran her hand through the pockets. No phone. She bit her lip and looked around, her eyes had adjusted a little. She made out the outline of a recliner and started towards it. She remembered now, sort of, hadn’t she been sitting on that recliner last night? A deep snore from the bed caused startled her. She soundleslly stood up and looked at the bed. She saw the silhouette of a man’s body under a sheet. She slid her jeans on quietly. The phone started ringing again. She spied the light of it shining from the corner of the recliner. Her memory hadn’t been wrong, she had been sitting there at some point last night. She dug between the smooth leather back and seat cushion.
