Did you know that almost 3,000 people died on 9/11? People hijacked four planes and crashed them into the Pentagon, both World Trade Center buildings and into a field in Pennsylvania. 9/11 was a historical event because of what happened before, during and after.

So It was a sad moment for the people that lost their lives that day the day of September 9,2001 or a shorter word 9/11. The people that hit the two Twin Towers and the Pentagon and one was going for the White House but there was a fight in the plane that was going to the White House. But the plane was crashing in a field at Pennsylvania. So, every year at 9/11 they will have a memory for the people that died that day from the two Twin Towers. So, if you will try to go too see the twin towers they are not there because of the 9/11 they did not try to rebuild it so they just put water in the outside and there is trees too. So if you try to go there in the night you will see the light in the middle where it was.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, an Islamic terrorist group known as al-Qaeda carried out a series of four attacks on the United States. The most well-known attack is when two commercial airline planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York City. Many innocent lives were lost and families were torn apart. While many Americans were determined to show their resilience towards the attacks, this is a day many Americans will never forget. Although the attacks happened sixteen years ago, Americans are still dealing with the impacts these attacks have had on life in America. The 9/11 attacks have had several long-lasting effects on everyday life in America, some of which include an increase in airport security, a change in national security, and an increase the fear of terrorism.

With every light that shines the will always be a shadow threatening to take over. On February 23, 1993, the Towers fell under attack for the first time. A rented van was parked with hydrogen canisters in the back was parked in the garage two floors down about six feet from the south wall of the north tower, at 12:18 the bomb exploded (World Trade Center - Anatomy of the Collapse). This explosion killed six, and injured 1,000, 5,00 were evacuated because of smoke inhalation. The explosion left a 60 by 60-foot crater, and cause 500 million dollars in damage (History.com Staff). The core of the tower acted like a vent, carrying the smoke up through the stairwells and elevator shafts, causing smoke inhalation which is dangerous to the workers and visitors.

As a society, our government has tried to minimize domestic terrorism attacks and the impact that it causes should it occur, such as taking steps to acquire due diligence. Prior to the recent years, society lacked the preparedness programs and security plans, that could have prevented these ongoing attacks. Moreover, although we cannot put these attacks to a halt, we can surely put a plan into action that can prevent the widespread of these attacks. Nevertheless, these terrorists are becoming bolder ad bolder as the times go by, it seems as if the message of the government not allowing them to continue their rampage/destruction on the masses has not stuck. Prior to the recent years, we have seen high-profile attacks on major cities across the globe that has kept all individuals on their toes. Terrorist individuals/groups are no longer hitting specific groups of individuals or symbolic sites, but are more so hitting and putting cities and countries under siege, with the help of recruits they have acquired from poor and marginal neighborhoods all over, this type of recruitment is called

Since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon on 11 September 2001, there have been different U.S. strategies to try and combat the rise of global terrorism. The attacks made the entire world all too aware of the scale and scope of threats that terrorism can carry. An hour later, a second plane crashed into the south tower at 550 miles an hour. Terrorism is a critical issue that the world faces today. The stressful part is not knowing when an attack will happen and the location. Terrorism not only effects the people but the government as well because its purpose is a political reason. According to Federal Bureau Investigation   (2016), “Terrorism is the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives." The United States has had many attacks and attempted attacks against the government and citizens.

The United States and other nations in the world are subjected to constant terrorist threats. The 9/11 catastrophe was one of the most significant in the United States as it led massive infrastructural destruction and the loss of several lives. The disaster was also elemental for the United States because it demonstrated that terrorism was one of the biggest concerns that needed attention. Besides the United States, the terrorists have operated in various countries across the globe leading to numerous deaths and loss of lives (Mathieu, 2010). As a result, the United States in collaboration with other countries have adopted strategies to assist in mitigating the issue.

Terrorism is a big issue that the United States faces today. If we back up into time 15 years ago when we were attack by Al Qaeda in New York City we were not prepare for any type of terrorist attack. Now 15 years later our security of preventing attacks have approved in airports majorly. Now we can’t just buy plane tickets and get on a plane and go, now we have stages of security to go through even before we get on the plane. We are now spending billions of tax paying dollars on keeping up with security in airports and in our military. America is the land that everyone has a chance to make a living but what happens when terror is spread across the country. Terrorism has caused the United States some trouble throughout the years. Even though the United States has not had many terrorist attacks, the subject still seems to cause problems. Terrorism is not just physical attacks; it involves cyber-attacks and espionage. Physical attacks are made to murder and destroy Americans as well as create chaos. In 2001 Americans went through a huge tragedy due to terrorism. On September eleventh, 2001 in New York City the twin towers were hit by two hijacked planes. There was said to be two other planes involved in this horrendous attack, one that hit the pentagon and another that crashed in a field. It was said flight ninety-three, which was the plane that crashed in the field, was bound for Washington, DC. President Bush had addressed the country later on after the attack by saying “These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat, but they have failed” (www.nytimes.com).

People terrorize for many different reasons. Whether it’s just because they hate that country, doing it for a religious figure, or trying to please a leader of a terrorist cult, the killing of innocent people is still terrorism. But no matter how hard we try, there is always going to be a terrorist attack that we couldn’t get to in time. The most infamous, and deadly, terrorist attack on American soil was the attacks of September 11, 2001.
