1320 Reflective Assignment

Reflective Assignment Entering college for the first time was nerve wracking for me. I knew I would be challenged academically at a new level, and didn’t know how to prepare for college courses to come. However, Writing 1310 and 1320 have greatly improved my writing skills. I’m more confident in my writing and have even used these skills in my other courses such as history and film and literature. Along the course of 1320, there were 3 writing assignments including an informative paper, an annotated bibliography with abstract, and an argument paper. The assignment that I was the most concerned about was the final assignment, the argument paper. We were to use the information in the preceding assignment, the annotated bibliography along with the abstract, and create a 1500 word argumentative essay in regards to an issue in our field of study. I read different types of texts that demonstrated the various ways that writers give clarity and validity to a position. Each week, with the exception of the ones where a writing assignment was due, we had a quiz over each of the readings that were assigned. Additionally, we’d discuss each of the writer’s methods in class by first dividing into groups amongst ourselves before sharing with the class. Furthermore, to improve, I’ve incorporated some of the ways of these writers into my own writing. One of the most important course objectives that I’ve grown accustomed to is the writing process itself. In the writing process, we are able to revise our writing where it is weak and earn a better grade than before. Since I took advantage of the revision process, not only was I able to improve my grade, but I was able to prevent the same mistakes from happening again in other writing assignments. From revisions alone, I’ve learned how to improve my writing skills and catch mistakes that I wouldn’t have seen
