In the AMHCA Code of Ethics (2015), that counselors should look at his or her own beliefs and values and understand that their views can impact the client. AMHCA also has their own peer review journal that provides information about research, and theories that relates to mental health counseling. You have a really good post. Ethics codes are important to have so there can be boundaries. Ethics codes are rules and regulations for services to keep both the client and worker safe. Human services are supposed to follow these guidelines to give the best and proper care that the individual or family needs. They have broad range of skill the caseworker can use to help by following the guidelines (Martin, 2014). If a worker goes over the boundaries by breaking a rule he or she can lose her job and even license. When looking at the IMA Statement of Ethical Professional Practice, there were some steps that Betty Vinson could have taken to avoid any of the punishments that were given to her. Before following any of the IMA’s recommended actions of recourse, Vinson should have referred to WorldCom’s recognized policies on ethical behavior and follow the actions that they have written and approved to take.
