Dei Verbum's (The Word of God) document explained God's desire for communion with humanity. It emphasized how God chose to reveal Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ, the fullness of divine revelation “In His goodness and wisdom God chose to reveal Himself and to make known to us the hidden purpose of His will (see Eph. 1:9). Moreover, Dei Verbum outlined the vital role of sacred scripture and tradition in the life and faith of the Church.
It highlighted the Bible's crucial importance for the Church and all Christians.
In addition to highlighting the significance of scripture, Dei Verbum stresses the importance of studying and reading the Bible as it is the living and active Word of God that strengthens the Church and guides believers. Additionally, approaching scripture with prayer so that believers can connect more deeply with God and strengthen their faith. Lastly, stressing scripture's essential role in Christian living, Dei Verbum called for preaching and teaching to be firmly established in the Bible.
