Nina Agwu Brother Mark Richins New Testament – REL 211 February 17, 2024 W06 Insight Sharing – Share It! Instructions Family Home Evening Lesson Prepare a family home evening lesson for your family or friends and share what you have been learning. This lesson can be flexible, based on your learners' (especially young children's) needs and capabilities. It should be at least 20 minutes in length. Include an activity so your learners can participate. Submit your outline along with a description or picture of any resources you used such as visual aids, music, treats, etc. If you are working ahead so you can give your lesson at the beginning of the appropriate week, include a short report on how the evening went. The following below is my outline for my family home evening lesson that I taught at family home evening group this past Monday. The topic of my family home evening lesson – The Power of Prayer The principle/doctrine that I taught: The principle/doctrine that I will be teaching for Family Home Evening Plan is the great significance and the power of prayer. A scripture passage/reference I shared: Alma 34:17-27 which states the following: 17 Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you; 18 Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save. 19 Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him. 20 Cry unto him when ye are in your fields, yea, over all your flocks. 21 Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening. 22 Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies. 23 Yea, cry unto him against the devil, who is an enemy to all righteousness. 24 Cry unto him over the crops of your fields, that ye may prosper in them. 25 Cry over the flocks of your fields, that they may increase. Alma 32:18 18 Now I ask, is this faith? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for if a man knoweth a thing he hath no cause to believe for he knoweth it. My object lesson portion : My object lesson, or activity I used to help introduce the theme or principle that I discussed in this Family Home Evening plan involved me using a white plate, a pack of skittles, and a cup of hot water. I demonstrated the different skittles as different people around the world with questions seeking to be answered by prayers by Christ and Heavenly Father. Then I lined some of the skittles all around the white plate in a circle. Then I poured the cup of hot water in the center of the plate and waited for the water to spread to the skittles. In
doing so, this created a water trail of the skittles and showed all the different colors or questions that we have and want to be answered in prayer. A quote I wanted to share that explains my lesson topic: “No one has failed who keeps trying and keeps praying.” – Elder Jefferey R. Holland “Pray to your Heavenly Father… He will remove roadblocks, and help you overcome obstacles.” – Elder Neil L. Andersen In closing my lesson, I share the following testimony: I feel that as member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having faith is one of those most important and foundational things that we can do and have. It is very important for us to practice faith and to strengthen it one was through prayer. Prayer is essential for us to practice at least daily if not twice a day. I would like to testify that prayer is a very important part for all members to do daily and to use in helping to strengthen one’s testimony. Alternative Activity Assignment (I did not meet with any of the scheduled groups) Participants:  Nina Agwu (Me) Ada Agwu (Older Sister) In this meeting, I began by sharing common symptoms of musculoskeletal diseases and disorders. Then, my sister Ada and I discussed the following diseases: Herniated Intervertebral Disk, Osteoporosis, and the deformities of the spine which included Lordosis, Kyphosis, and Scoliosis. My sister asked me what these diseases were and the signs and symptoms of each of them.  Herniated Intervertebral Disk Which is a disease the occurs when the nucleus pulposus protrudes through the wall of the disk and into the spinal canal where it then presses on the spinal nerves and causes pain and disability.
