Bayleigh Melichar Dr. Kelley Midterm Case Study October 19 th , 2023 Truck Allocation Dilemma 1. Who is your client and what do they say they want? What do they need? My client is Jennifer of Crisp Electric and Line (CEL). She wants to be able to identify the need of her employees so she can pick the best suited person to get the new truck. She needs to hear everyone out on why they believe they should get the truck but also other concerns and improvements that they want to see within the company. 2. How does Jeannette’s relationship with Sam impact your relationship with Jennifer? Jeannette’s relationship with Sam should have no impact on my relationship with Jennifer. Jennifer is the boss running Crisp Electric and Line, so she is the one I am working with. Sam stated that he has all the faith in the world in her to run the company and will not undercut any of her decisions. I am working for Jennifer, not Sam, as she is the operations manager. Jeannette has faith in me, and Sam has faith in Jennifer, so this will be a good relationship to help Jennifer with her upcoming decisions.
3. What industry is your client in? What are the factors that play in and around your client's industry? (Open Systems View) When looking into what industry my client is in, I went to her top employees to get the run down on their daily job functions. Jennifer runs a lot of the office and behind the senses work, so I wanted insight from CEL’s employees who have eyes on the daily job. I consulted Biff and Tom to get more insight into this. I wanted to know what their daily itinerary looks like, who takes on what roles and positions, how they like things ran, etc. Some factors that play within my client’s industry are experience within the job, different specialties per person when completing tasks, and the equipment. Some factors that play outside my client's industry are who needs contacts, weather conditions, and the public and private sector.
