Adopting Agile
Agile project management (APM) involves a more adaptive method of managing a project from an iterative and incremental approach. However, this project management approach is only fit for some projects. Short to medium project sizes or deadlines with APM can promote efficiency and productivity. The APM approach should also be considered when a project has a high level of ambiguity (Cobb, 2023). If the end goal requires additional clarification, there are multiple variations of the final product, or the project is anticipated to change directions, APM provides more flexibility by allowing changes to deploy in parallel with planned incremental releases. Lastly, since APM focuses on value, this approach should be used when a project calls for high engagement from business stakeholders. It incorporates a “collaboration-based approach
on a spirit of trust and partnership (Cobb, 2022).” APM is a client-facing methodology that promotes a partnership with the business to share progress and welcome feedback, incorporating feedback received to deliver a value-driven product. Projects not Appropriate for Agile
Agile is not appropriate for projects with fixed schedules and budgets. Since agile progresses iteratively and focuses on continuous improvement, it can impact changes to a project's cost, timeline, and scope (Cobb, 2023). A rigid project that decides to use APM risks delays with the project timelines and going over budget. It would be appropriate to use a traditional project management approach, known as waterfall, a more suitable approach for plan-
driven projects with well-defined projects that can be done linearly and sequentially (Cobb, 2023). Projects with schedules and budget constraints are not appropriate for the APM approach.

This exercise tests your ability to come up with a detailed and elaborate Business Case for a project. One of the main responsibilities of an IT Project Manager is writing and defending Project Proposals, that is, justifying the need for the project. You need to explain the organization’s need(s), the current situation, and why your proposed solution will workAssume that you wish to import a 14-seater Public Service Vehicle (PSV) to ply route 14 (Town-Nairobi West-Madaraka) of Nairobi City. You need to compute the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), that is, the cost of purchasing and maintaining the vehicle including the regulatory requirements.
You are expected to take a loan at the prevailing rates and spread it as you wish (based on your assumptions-show the calculations).
You then calculate projected income expected from the “Project” (again based on some assumptions which you need to state) and give a realistic position about the viability of getting into this “project”.

Project Managers are often required to report on the conduct of their projects. The reporting is usually done at regular intervals, such as weekly status reports to the project Sponsor, monthly reports to the executive team on some sort of dashboard, and perhaps to the project team at major milestones. Create a table that displays the requirements and advantages of status reporting for each of the following roles: ⢠Board of directors ⢠Executive sponsor ⢠Business partner ⢠Project manager ⢠Team leads ⢠Project management Trainer ⢠Key vendor ⢠Stockholder.
