Reflection
Overall, this task was both tough and enjoyable. I used my dining room as my "classroom," a
few sticker books from my planner as the actual "storybook," and then some note cards I had. I
came to the realization that it was challenging to visualize how the entire video would flow or
how I would make use of the available area. I wanted to move around more and go from side to
side, but I was constrained by the size of my dining area. When I pretended to be a teacher, I felt
enthusiastic and energized. It was enjoyable to use the book I chose to revisit my own youth. I
could think back to how many times I had heard that story read aloud in picture books. During
the entire time I was reading the novel, I could visualize the scenarios.
I did come to the conclusion that perhaps I had given the story a lot more attention than I had
intended. Even though I was deeply engrossed in the narrative and eager to discuss it with my
class, I continued to talk about the characters and the narrator. I discovered that I do feel a little
self-conscious when I'm on a video, but that feeling was heightened when I was speaking to the
air rather than actual kids. With additional experience and training, that may alter. I did fumble
over my sentences a few times when I was scared in front of the camera, but I was able to
recover and continue.
