Tristan Hartzog Micky Macadam’s English 123 10/24/2023 My first debate will be environmental sustainability. This is closely related to my major Transportation and supply chain management for it uses a lot of movement for vehicles to move assets from one place to another which results to making a bigger carbon footprint. Some argue that the transportation and supply chain industry should prioritize environmental sustainability through more green friendly methods. This involves reducing carbon footprints, investing in fuel-efficient transportation modes, and implementing sustainable sourcing practices. Advocates of this perspective believe that incorporating eco-friendly strategies not only reduces environmental impacts but also enhances brand reputation and meets the growing demand for environmentally responsible products and services. Conversely, some stakeholders in the transportation and supply chain field prioritize cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency over environmental concerns. That stringent green regulations and sustainability measures could lead to increased operational costs, impacting the competitive edge of companies and overall expense within the industry. Businesses will emphasize the importance of finding a balance between sustainable practices and cost-effective operations to maintain profitability and market competitiveness. My second debate is advocating full automation, some experts in the transportation and supply chain management field advocate for the full integration of advanced technologies such as AI
and robotics to streamline supply chain operations. They argue that automation can enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and optimize resource allocation. Proponents of this view believe that leveraging cutting-edge technologies can lead to improved inventory management, faster order processing, and enhanced supply chain visibility, resulting in reduced costs and increased customer satisfaction. On the other side, there are concerns about the potential negative impacts of extensive technology integration on the workforce within transportation and supply chain management. Critics argue that widespread automation could lead to job displacement, particularly for workers involved in repetitive tasks that can be automated. They contend that the human element is crucial in handling complex supply chain issues and that technology should complement human skills rather than entirely replace them. This perspective emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to technology integration that preserves the employment opportunities and skills of the workforce while reaping the benefits of technological advancements. The debate I will choose for my final persuasive essay is Technology Integration. The side I would pick is for the integration of AI and robotic assistance. This is a opportunity overall efficiency and competitiveness. Of course, we will have to run many tests and have safeguards for robots like the self-drivers and AI. Safety is a big statement used when referring to robots but if we took out the people from the warehouse, who have injuries and death happen every year related to warehouse work, then we would have no injuries. By addressing these key points, you can effectively convey the significance of technology integration, particularly in terms of AI and robotics, to individuals connected to your career or degree field, fostering a deeper understanding of the potential benefits and challenges that this integration can bring.
