Solar panels produce electricity by collecting energy from the sun. Over the course of a day, a solar panel might produce a total of 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity. Let's consider a function to describe the electricity production of such a solar panel over the course of a day. This solar panel function has independent variable t, the number of hours since sunrise, and dependent variable. E, the total number of kilowatt-hours of electricity produced by the panel over those t hours.
- Examine the three partial graphs in Figure 9.61 . Discuss each graph’s characteristics in terms of the electricity production it describes. Which graph do you think is most likely to be the graph of the solar panel function between sunrise and about noon on a cloudless day? Explain your reasoning.
