The esophagus and large intestine is the organ found in the digestive system. But, the pancreas is the large gland behind the stomach, which breaks down protein into polypeptides. The pancreas serves two main functions. One is to produce enzymes that digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. The other is to produce enzymes hormones. The pancreas secretes alkaline fluid to raise the pH in the small intestine that creates a favorable environment for the action of intestinal enzymes.
Thus, the pancreas is the odd one that does not belong to the esophagus and large intestine. The pancreas is the gland found in the digestive system.
