To analyze:
The sexual reproduction and its relation to the gamete and a zygote.
Introduction:
A biological process for the reproduction of new individual organisms or offspring from their parents is called reproduction. Reproduction is of two types: asexual and sexual.
Explanation of Solution
A type of life cycle in which alteration of generations occurs between cells with a single and double set of chromosomes is called sexual reproduction. The most common life cycle in eukaryotes is sexual reproduction. Gametes are the haploid cells formed in the gonads of both male and female by meiosis. By sexual reproduction two gametes one from male and another from female fuse together for the formation of zygote. Zygote is a fertilized diploid cell which in future develops into fetus.
Sexual reproduction is a necessity for the formation of zygote. The fusion of gamete takes place through sexual reproduction, and the zygote is formed by gamete fusion.
