Tobacco farming has been more than a three-hundred-year-old tradition and bread and butter of most of each Ilokano clans in Ilocos sur, Philippines. It has been an aged old tradition to plant, dry, roll, and sell these tobaccos in the market mainly for income and tourism purposes. But, with frequent smoking of rolled Tobacco and inhaling its secondhand smoke comes several negative impacts of to one's health. Several studies supply data that smoking and inhaling the smoke of these dried rolled leaves of tobacco can cause lung diseases such as, COPD, Emphysema, or worse, Lung Cancer. On a genetic scale, it is also proven that because of nicotine, it can alter a person's Ribonucleic Acid causing the genetic material to become a mutant and cause the mentioned respiratory conditions. The change in the genetic makeup of the person specifically in the chromosomal level was expressed through Karyotyping. Hence, the STEM class of Magsingal wanted to keep the aged old tradition of tobacco farming with the community, alive. While assuring that the next batch of gender modified tobaccos' toxicity rate, specifically the dried rolled leaves, will be downgraded to 50%. The pharmaceutical procedure will be needing the following: a genetic laboratory to be used as a wet lab will be at the Genome Fund of the North with the method of, Gene editing, Sequencing, and Engineering. Artificial propagation, and nicotine level test of comparison between the leaf of a genetically modified tobacco and naturally grown tobacco will also be implied. How will you make the proposal better?
