CASE STUDY
Martha Jayasekera is a 25-year-old young woman with cerebral palsy, who lives in her own flat. She uses a wheelchair and needs support with many activities of daily living. Her support needs include getting out of bed in the morning, washing, dressing and getting ready for the day and support with getting into bed in the evening.
Martha Jayasekera enjoys going out with friends and working part time, as a counsellor for young adults with physical disabilities in a local community support centre.
The home care organisation who delivers her service are requested to come and support her to go to bed at 10 p.m. but the carers frequently arrive at 7p.m. to perform this service and have continued to do this despite Martha’s complaints. When asked why this happens the care service says a lot of the staff do not wish to work such late hours and feel unsafe in the area around Martha’s flat.
The question is:

- Introduction Summary of case Based on the case, the prison service is an example of the complexity of stakeholder requirements, as it must carry out conflicting activities to ensure the safety of society and provide a regime that will punish wrongdoers as a means of payment for their crimes. The principal stakeholders and their requirements are as follows: government ministers, prison governors, prison officers, offenders, families of offenders, and members of society. The relationships between these stakeholder groups are often complex, as politicians ultimately report to those who elect them, and prison governors may feel that they must satisfy the demands of the current party in power, which may be at odds with the requirements of other groups. A stakeholder is a party that has an interest in a company and can either affect or be affected by the business (Fernando, 2023). The primary stakeholders in the article above are government ministers responsible for the prison…Extreme Pita, a fast-food franchise, was preparing to launch four new pita products simultaneously across all of its locations in North America. High sales as well as product consistency and uniformity across all of its locations were key goals. Current training methods included preparation of a training manual, distribution of the manual to all stores, and self-study of the manuals by store staff. Costs for this training included the cost of developing the manual and shipping costs. The president was aware of new developments in e-learning and was keen to explore these options for training on the new products. a) How can a costing estimate assist Extreme Pita in determining which methods to use? b) Would Extreme Pita use a cost-effectiveness or cost–benefit analysis to determine benefits of the training?Part B: Case Analysis International Cow Packers (ICP) is a $12 billion meat processor (slaughter, processing, and packing). Founded in 1943, ICP has grown to become the largest beef and lamb processor in the United States (revenues come 90% from beef and 10% from lamb) and also has a growing export market to Japan. The company follows a focused cost-leadership strategy, delivering USDA-graded meats primarily to the institutional (schools, prisons, hospitals) and supermarket channels. ICP’s entire value chain is organized to deliver volume product at the industry’s lowest per-unit cost. Its supplier industries, primarily cattle feedlots, have relatively little power since prices for these raw materials are determined in the commodity markets. While entry barriers to the industry are high due to high minimum start-up costs, industry rivalry is extremely intense - primarily due to the fact that three large companies (including ICP) control 80% of the market for processed…

Unlike previous projects, in which Dr. Wood worked alone or with one or two other investigators, on this project Dr. Wood has 11 colleagues. His project team is made up of two co-investigators (with PhDs), four intervention staff (with MAs), and five general staff members (with BAs). One year into the project, it has become apparent to Dr. Wood and the team that the project is underbudgeted and has too few resources. Team members are spending 20%–30% more time on the project than has been budgeted to pay them. Regardless of the resource strain, all team members are committed to the project; they believe in its goals and the importance of its outcomes. Dr. Wood is known throughout the country as the foremost scholar in this area of health education research. He is often asked to serve on national…
