Alix E. Harrow Biography

Born in Kentucky in 1989, Alix E. Harrow left the state and headed north, completing both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Vermont. Before writing full-time, Harrow taught African and African American history. Her works of short fiction have been nominated for several awards, and in 2019, she received the Hugo Award for Best Short Story for “A Witch’s Guide to Escape: A Compendium of Portal Fantasies.” Even though she has traveled extensively—much like her readers who are taken on fantastical journeys—Harrow resides in her native state of Kentucky with her husband and two children.
