The Iceman
Richard Kuklinski was born on April 11, 1935 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was raised in an abusive environment. His father would beat him for no reason at all and all he ever knew was hate because that is all he’s ever known. His father Stanley would beat him with an iron rod and lock him in the basement for hours or days without food. Stanley went so far one night that he killed Richard’s younger brother due to hitting him in the head. His father then abandoned the family when Richard was 16. I believe his upbringing is a large contributing factor of him becoming a serial killer. Richard Kuklinski’s brother, Joseph Michael Kuklinski, was as much abused and mistreated as Richard. His upbringing, I believe, contributed to his criminal mindset and the actions he committed. When he was taken out of his home due to the abuse, he raped and then murdered a 12 year old girl and was convicted for it shortly after. I don’t believe that he would be a serial or contract killer like Richard because he still cared about human life. He was hurt after his brother was killed by his parents. He probably just wanted to rape the girl

Kuklinski killed over 200 people and did it for money or for revenge. He was a brutal person who didn’t regret any of it and had no remorse for any of his victims. I think he is like Jeffrey Dahmer because they both didn't have a single regret about anything or any of their kills. The only difference between the two is that Dahmer had sex related crimes while Kuklinski didn’t. He is also related to another serial killer, Jack the Ripper. They both got away with their murders for a long period of time before getting caught. They both also have an astronomically high amount of kills. Kuklinski claims to have over 200 and Jack the Ripper has a little over 100
Sometimes considered disgusting, cruel, terrible, or unforgivable, serial killers could arguably have a reason for their madness. Beaten as a child, raped, or even for left to die could spark what could soon become disastrous. Some serial killers do it for the fun of it, but for the most part they do it because of a poor childhood and upbringing. This is what some believe to be the reasons for the killings done by The Coed Killer, Edmond Kemper. After his conviction of killing ten people, prosecutors then found the real reason of the horrific murders. Seen as a gentle giant by some, Kemper was all but that.
From Ted Bundy to BTK to the “Zodiac Killer”, serial killers have been around the United States for a long time, but none is better than Richard Chase, or better known as the “Vampire of Sacramento”, to investigate the reasons behind serial killers. Born on May 23, 1950, Chase was raised in a very strict house and was constantly abused by his parents. As a
This psychopath terrorized the people of Wisconsin and Ohio for thirteen years. This man committed a series of murder, rape, and dismemberment amongst his seventeen 17 victims. This paper will go one to talk about his early life, first victims, killing spree, arrest and imprisonment, and also his death.
In an article called “The Traits of A Serial Killer,” by Simon (2004), psychopaths are not “created” over night, but rather their behavior can be connected all the way to their childhood. What trauma a child experiences plays a major role in the rest of his or her life. A serial killer, most of the time,
Serial killers are the byproduct of many different things: trauma, death of loved ones, abuse, neglect, adoption, and even witnessing abuse (Are Serial). Serial killers have had to endure a massive amount of something such as trauma or abuse to an unimaginable extent to become what they are; the extent of the abuse, the trauma, the psychological damage they endure is incomprehensible to many. The destruction of one’s innocence can occur at any given time in his or her life, but he or she is more impressionable in his or her youth by the negativism of someone else’s actions (Scott, Shirley L. What Makes Serial Killers Tick ~ Childhood Event). People are susceptible to what they endure in their adolescence, and cruel upbringings, such as
Ever heard of the zodiac killer? He was a serial killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The killer's identity remains unknown. The Zodiac murdered victims in 5 states between December 1968 and October 1969. The general profile for a serial killer is a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern. There are many types of serial killers. There are natural born killers who are born willing to kill someone, insane killers which have mental and physical disorders and criminaloids who do not exhibit specific traits. The childhood of a serial killer would typically be someone who is neglected by their family mainly their mothers. They tend to be antisocial and have anger issues. Poor families often cannot provide what the child always wants so they might commit crimes to get want they want. Abused children have a higher chance of being killers also because they have a lot of built up aggression and anger. All can lead to substance abuse which is never a good thing to mix in with a potential serial killer in the making. General behavioral progression from pre-crime to post-crime are that they use killing as a source of relief. Before committing a serious crime they could have built up anger and hatred. They is a high possibility that they are suffering from depression and anxiety too. After killing someone the killer feels relieved. They also feel
Avriel Benjamin Kaplan was born on April 17, 1989, to Michael Kaplan and Shelly Kaplan in Visalia, California. Since Michael Kaplan was Jewish Avriel Benjamin Kaplan’s name was hard to pronounce, so they called him Avi for short. When Avi Kaplan was five years old his sister was born, Esther Kaplan. He went to school at Mt. Whitney High School. In school, Kaplan was bullied because he was part Jewish. As a freshman in high school, he was asked to join a chamber choir primarily made up of junior and senior students. When Kaplan was 15 he taught himself to play guitar, and later in life, he even performed at restaurants and other places. he performed at Visalia, California coffee houses. Kaplan wrote his first song called “Collision” which is very close to his heart.
Every serial killer has their own twisted ways to doing their crimes. Richard Kuklinski is no different from other killers in this way. He started young, killing cats and other animals for the fun of it and to feel “empowered”. Different from other killers, he committed his first murder in middle school. Kuklinski beat a bully death and then disposed of it. A lot of their character traits relate back to their young family life. A common pattern in several serial killers is that their parents abused them in some way or the other. Richard Kuklinski, or the “Iceman”, is like these serial killers in the way that he was abused as a young boy. Although there are an uncertain amount of things that led Kuklinski to his brutal, senseless killings, some of the factors stand as: The abuse from his parents, his emotionless personality, and the money he earned from these killings.
He was a serial killer as well. He was sadistic, which means he drove pleasure from inflicting pain upon others. He was also narcissistic which means he had an excessive interest in his own physical appearance. He killed around 30 people, or at least that’s what he confessed to. Another serial killer is Jeffrey Dahmer, who was a cannibal. When they found him, he was in a state of dissociation. When he is in a state of dissociation, he can forget things and there is a lack of connection in his thoughts, according to the article titled Dissociation and Dissociative
Even though he is classified serial killer and contract killer he differs from typical serial killers. Unlike your typical serial killer who targets victims with a specific profile and will only target victims with the same specific profile, Mr. Kuklinski did the opposite and his victims were chosen at random. For Kuklinski, killings were only considered business for him and way for him to make money. At no time did he commit murder purposely to seek some type of sexual arousal. Also, he did not kill because he suffered from any psychological dysfunction. Although someone of his kills did occur during the heat of passion, but for the majority of kills that he has accumulated were all hits. In the documentary called The Iceman Confession peers into the life of Richard "the Iceman" Kuklinski. In the HBO documentary on the Kuklinski, the assistant attorney general who prosecuted the
Serial killers have fascinated the imaginations of people for a long time. One of the most notorious serial killers is Jeffrey Dahmer whose gruesome murders shocked the nation. Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer also known as Milwaukee monster was a notorious American serial killer and sexual offender in the 1980s and early 1990s. Between 1978 and 1991 Dahmer had murdered 17 men. His victims were usually raped, tortured, dismembered, and cannibalism was also involved. Jeffrey was a troubled child psychologically and his social skills had a lot to be desired. All the way through his childhood he was ignored and had queer fantasies of cadavers. In his adulthood this psychosocial status quo didn 't change and was in fact aggravated.
Jasmin Guerrero Richard Kuklinski On April 11, 1935 a baby boy was born in Trenton, NJ to Stanley and Anna Kuklinski. His name was Richard Leonard Kuklinski. He became known as one of the most brutal and sadistic serial killers there ever was.
Kendall Francois was an American serial killer who committed murders from 1996 through 1998. He was responsible for the disappearance and murder of a total of eight women, who were all thought to be prostitutes. 1 The names of these eight women were: Wendy Meyers, Gina Barone, Catherine Marsh, Michelle Easton, Kathleen Hurley, Mary Giaccone, Sandra French, and Catina Newmaster. 1 Kendall appeared to have a nice, caring, and stable homelife, and was likely never abused in any way during his childhood. So, then why did he commit these heinous crimes against women?
On December 6th, 1941 the world welcomed Richard Benjamin Speck, who would become a well-known mass murderer. Speck, having a rather rough childhood, had an extensive criminal background before committing the unspeakable murders that made him famous. After being found guilty, Speck spent his remaining days in Chicago’s Stateville Penitentiary. One can look at Richard’s personal history, crime and criminal history to try and pin him to one criminological theory, when in reality, none will really fit him to a “T”. He was a psychopath who was in great need of psychological help, among other things.
Ever since the young age of five, Todd Christopher Kohlhepp has been full of anger. It was a type of uncontrollable anger that drove him to destroy classmates' preschool projects, torture pets, and destroy his room with a hammer (Kohlhepp driven by anger). Kohlhepp’s troubled childhood is a result of his parent’s divorce. His mother remarried when he was five years old and left him with a stepfather he never got along with. As a child, he showed aggressive, antisocial, and hostile behaviors that eventually led to the start of sessions with a mental health professional. During his therapy sessions in Georgia, Kohlhepp "was very open about his hostility toward his stepfather" and "was preoccupied with sexual content” (Face of Fear). As Todd continued to grow up, his impulsive acts of aggression intensified greatly. Now, authorities say, the 45-year-old real estate agent is a serial killer.
