It’s my turn to close tonight. It’s a Monday night, so no one is here but one man. I usually don’t close, but I’ve been trying to get all the overtime I can get. I begged my boss for weeks to give me some more hours and he finally gave in. I mean I can understand why he had a hard time deciding because I’m not the most experienced bartender here. I would spend time trying to learn more drinks to make, but I have so much homework to do it takes up most of my time. I thought high school was hard, but college is even harder. In high school, I worked at Friendly’s but still managed to have some extra time. I guess now that I have to support myself financially and attend school, it been a little hard on me. I would’ve said a lot more knowing that would be her last day, but everything I said was true. She was there for me when my Dad left us. He left us when I was only five years old, so I don’t remember him that much. All I remembered was that he’d call me munchkin and sing me my favorite song “My Girl” every night before I’d go to bed. She never told me why he left all she would say is that he was somewhere out there with another family. My mom always had a drinking problem since I could remember, but it got worse when I got older. She did her best to keep herself together and provide for both of us. She worked double shifts at a gas station nearby, but once I got my first job she shifted to part-time. Then all she cared about was paying the rent, bills, and booze. Yay! I already had cleaned the bar, so I’ll have to do is check the bathrooms and lock up. I go check the bathrooms and once I come back the man is gone. I go to the counter to see only the amount of his beer. He left no tip, which is really odd. He seems like he would have the enough money to tip well, I mean he always wears suits, and I’ve seen him drive here with a Mercedes. I’m kind of upset because I thought we got along pretty well and he seemed like he wasn’t that type. I try not to think about that much because I’m just really tired. I put the security system at the bar and lock the back and front doors. As I finish locking the front doors and I turn around to see the older man there in front of me. I’m startled and shaken up a bit. I apologize and tell him that I didn’t see him behind
