Persuasive Essay.rtfd/TXT.rtf Persuasive Essay Everyone knows that graded homework can be overwhelming at any age. Homework is being introduced too soon into children’s academic careers. It is clear that the government is pushing it more. I believe that graded homework should be more of a choice not another chore. In truth, should students have homework? Elementary students should be focusing on learning and growing rather than worrying about if they will be passing onto the next grade level. The fact is, they are being sent home with so much homework they feel as if they are drowning in it. This gives students no time to be kids. Of course, they need to be educated but not overwhelmed with graded homework. Clearly the system feels that
Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is
Have you hated having homework?, wouldn’t you rather do something fun instead of staying up late doing homework?(Rhetorical Question) There should be little to no homework because it interferes with after school activities, some students do not have the time to do it (or will not do it anyway) and it is more work the teacher has to grade.
Over 7,500 animals are killed in zoos because they are deemed surplus, as stated by Liz Tyson an animals rights activist. This giraffe in particular sparked a huge controversy. HIs name was Marius, he was homed at the Copenhagen Zoo and was 2 years old when the staff killed him with a bolt gun. Marius was then dissected and fed to lions in front of ongoing zoo goers. What got people fuming is that he was a healthy, young giraffe. Therefore I believe the killing of Marius should not be justified.
Should homework be forced upon middle schoolers? No, it should not! Many obvious reasons will be presented, that will prove homework isn’t needed and that the evidence presented will change the minds of people who believe homework is necessary. The novel Fahrenheit 451, a futuristic book written by Ray Bradbury, and other sources will help to prove that middle schoolers don’t need homework. Homework is not necessary or beneficial to middle school students for three specific reasons: 1) it uses up time that should be spent with family, helping in the community, playing sports, or just being a kid; 2) homework perception of raise test score is erroneous 3) even though it is debatable that homework can improve academic achievement, it also been
Elementary school students can become overwhelmed with the amount of work given to them. This could cause the child to suffer from frustration and exhaustion. Every child enjoys activities and if there is too much homework being put on them, then they will not have time to do the things that make them happy. A downfall to students not being able to do the things they love could result in them losing interest in school and their grades. It is actually stated that the amount of homework had no effect on the test scores that the students received and it only caused a
Our world today relies very heavily on money, which is why a 14-year-old should be able to involve themselves in the growing economy. The age for getting a job should be decreased to age 14 to increase teen responsibility, help with rising costs of school fees, and assist families financially.
Homework needs to be smarter. In the article “Research Trends: Why Homework Should be Balanced” it is stated that “the goal shouldn't be to eliminate homework, but to make it authentic, meaningful and engaging”. I could not agree with this statement more. If we want homework to help students why do we worry more about the amount we give rather than what we give? As students, we deal with countless amounts of homework on a daily basis and much of it is just busy work. The truth is we aren't learning much from it either. There is little or no evidence that suggests any benefits amongst elementary kids, and there are only small benefits to our secondary students. In fact the opposite can be true. “Assigning too much homework can result in poor
I remember the first time I landed in Maui, as I got off the plane I was greeted with tons of hugs and beautiful handmade leis from my other family members, followed with a question that I have become very familiar with from my grandparents, “Are you hungry?” Of course who wouldn't be after spending over nine hours cooped up in a plane with tasteless and overly expensive airline food. I didn't really know what was in Maui since it was my very first time visiting, so of course I left it up to my grandparent to choose a place to eat at. Which ended up being one of the greatest choices I have ever made because I was introduced to a place like no other..
Nora and Sydney run to the bathroom giggling, skipping along. Shortly after they return our steaming, delicious smelling meals are set in front of us. We are devouring our juicy steaks, savory potatoes, tender lobster, and crunchy chicken strips when something behind the over towering brick fire place dividing the dining room from the bar makes a popping sound louder than I’ve ever heard before. I think to myself, “Was that a celebration coming from a champagne bottle? No… much louder than that. Did someone actually bring a firework into The Firebirds restaurant?” Then another pop and suddenly the whole
The younger generations have been assigned an extreme amount of homework in school. The homework has overwhelmed many of them making them dislike school or even wondering the point of it. Education today is taught on the same level to all students but every child is different on their ways of learning, their attitude towards it is different. It is sad to know that even an Act created by a president titled “No Child Left Behind” has failed in an article by Kenneth Jost critics say that law has hurt education by overemphasizing standardized tests and unfairly labeling schools as underperforming without providing necessary help to improve. Students should be taught in a group and one on one at their own pace not the pace that some teacher’s paper says. Today, schools are issuing an abundant amount of homework to pupils ones which has caused a lot of stress, a dislike of learning, and even have caused grades to drop.
If something’s broken, you fix it, but if it’s damaged beyond repair, then you get rid of it for something better. Then you brag to your friends that you got a new one. That’s what my grade thinks. Pride, collectively known as the worst sin. At least we do something during the productively, unlike the Sloth grade.
Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment.
Kylie drops her backpack on the floor with a thump, and runs to change her clothes. “I’m home,” she calls to her mom, grabbing a quick snack before running over to her friend Emily’s house next door. Kylie is an example of many students across the country whose schools have begun to implement a new policy of no homework. The policy encourages children to spend their free time with their family. The only “homework” that a child is given is the material that they did not finish during class time. This leads to the question. Should elementary schools assign homework to children? Children in elementary schools should not be assigned homework because children are now allowed to pursue interests and spend time with their family, homework is often repetitive and time consuming, and homework can leave stress and burden on both parents and children.
When you think of school, what does it mean to you? Does it mean an education? A place filled with homework? A place that prepares you for the future? You may think all of these things about school, but one of them is not correct. Our form of education doesn’t completely prepare you for your career and what lies ahead. School is supposed to be a place that teaches you the skills needed in order to be an adult, but not all those skills are based on your knowledge of Algebra or knowing the history of the Roman Empire. Schools should require classes that teach life skills to help prepare students for their future.
Students, parents, teachers, administrators and other interested parties all seem to have strong and different feelings towards homework. Students complain that they have too much homework to complete outside of the hours they already attended classes. Students feel that they have personal lives to live and blow off homework while some parents and teachers believe that homework is the key to passing classes and preparation for college. This leads to teachers feeling pressured to push their students to succeed and this can easily get carried away. Parents and school systems still often discuss the topic of homework today. Should homework in school systems be stopped?
