Courage in American Sniper The dangers frequently endured by soldiers fighting for the United States is immense. Hundreds of men and women are killed daily by terrorists. Many soldiers give up their dreams to fight for their country because they feel endangered every day by extremist groups and other terrorists. The movie American Sniper is based off of the true story of Chris Kyle and his efforts to protect his country. Throughout the movie, Chris Kyle’s struggles demonstrate that war may build courage but also leads to emotional issues. Chris Kyle’s decision to give up his dreams as a cowboy in Texas and become a Navy SEAL is courageous and leads to an emotional downfall before he leaves for war. Chris learned how to shoot and hunt animals at a young age. Never did he know that he would be fighting in a war in a foreign country. Chris’s dream since a young child was to become a cowboy, however he was fully capable of being a soldier, specifically a sniper. He is visiting a bar that he goes to often when he meets a young woman. He decides to talk to her, and they quickly become friends. Shortly after, he marries her and has a child with her. U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to become a cowboy, but it wasn’t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to fight for his country and enlisted into the military. He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the deadliest sniper in American history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals that he couldn’t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper, Mustafa. Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he faced a new battle. He struggled with normal daily life, but even then he persevered and found a new passion to aid him. Throughout this film, Clint Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting, camera angles, and the main character Chris Kyle.

The fight is between the Republicans and the Free Staters, the protagonist is a sniper for the Republicans. Throughout the story, we go into the state of mind of the main character and learn some ramifications that he gained in the war. There are two types of people that fight in wars; those who consider their patriotic duty an honor and those who entered the war by force. In 1990, twenty years after returning from the Vietnam War, Tim O’Brien published The Things They Carried, a disturbing and remorseful collection of short stories that gives detailed, yet fictional, accounts of the horrific events that occurred during the war. Later in 2012, after his tour of duty, Chris Kyle released American Sniper, a humble and passionate memoir that describes what Kyle had to face during his tour. While The Things They Carried utilizes symbolism and similes to inform the reader about the horrors of war, American Sniper uses flashbacks and imagery to demonstrate that some people “come alive” during the war.

Over thousands of blacks were discriminated in the 1950s because of their skin color. Blacks and whites were prohibited to go to the same school just because of their skin color. However, in the year of 1957 the Little Rock Nine were the first nine black students that integrated to Central High. If this group of people didn’t have the courage to attend Central High our schools would be extremely different today.
Throughout the history of the humanity, there were many events happened that show of the courage of many people. After the story “ Unbroken” that tells us about Louis Zamperini and his story , we can see that he is an example of a courage person, beside that, Nelson Mandela is another examples of this characteristic. Nelson was the democratic leader that fought for justice and freedom in South Africa, he spend over 20 years in prison for the apartheid regime. But with his courage and smartness, he won against the racism and became the leader of the new South Africa. And In 1993, he received a Nobel Peace Prize for all that he did and contributed for the humanity.

1. The purpose of this work is to inform the public that Chris Kyle isn’t really this great American hero, but instead a killer who takes pleasure in what he does during his time in the military. For example, she talks a lot about what Chris Kyle wrote in his memoir and how we can start to see that he isn’t the hero that he was made out to be. She quotes from his book that he writes “I couldn’t give a flying fuck about the Iraqis” because he only saw them as the bad people and not human beings.

This book is a story about two siblings that experienced many things throughout the whole book, most of them hard and new to them, but at the end, they assimilated to face these things. Their father, Atticus, was a lawyer who did everything at his hands to always do the right thing, and as a result of that, Jem and Scout met several circumstances that other kids weren’t exposed to and they learned to forgive and and appreciate others the way they are. Compassion and forgiveness are perceptible in this book and appreciable things like Camellias, and Red Geraniums can represent such strong emotions.
