I show kindness and consideration toward others when I am in charge. Every time I make the work schedule and I know the certified nursing assistants are going to be short staffed, when I get done passing medication I help them with patient care. Also, when I know a cna is having a difficult time with the patient I stop what I am doing and help the cna with the patient. When I agree to switch shifts with someone then I show up for that shift, I have been known to work a weekend for someone when the ask. I know what I want to accomplish in life and that is to get my Masters in Healthcare Management and then I want to move up in the company to increase my pay so that my husband can retire in the next three years. Every Monday I make of list of things that need to get done that week and place it on my computer so that I can see it every day and I cross things off as I get them done so I will not be scrambling when Friday come and I have to get my weekly numbers in to my boss. …show more content…
I like to be known as a person who cooperates, there are three of us working in one office and if one person gets behind then I pitch in to help get the wok done. I am sensitive to the feelings of others for example at work when my coworker tells the same joke I just laugh at it and when a coworker asks how her hair looks I just say it looks good but at the same time if someone has food on their face I let them know that also. I also try to understand the viewpoints of others by asking them to explain why they said what they said and asking questions until I understand their side. I care for my physical health and wellbeing; I go to the doctor every six months and I try to eat healthy but that does not always happen because I love
At 17 years old, I had the grueling task of deciding how I wanted to spend 40 plus years of my life. I always aspired to land a career in the medical field, so I majored in biology like most pre-med hopefuls, but during my junior year, I no longer desired to become a physician. The medical field was calling out to me, but the specialty of focus was incorrect. After graduation, I went back to the basics and put my nursing assistant certification to use.
Healthcare systems and the way safe, quality health care is delivered are continually changing to better serve patients and communities. Professional nursing practice is a large component in the healthcare system today. Back in the 1960s, professional nursing leaders tried to adopt the bachelor degree programs as the only educational track to become a registered nurse (Creasia & Friberg, 2011). Due to nursing shortages and demands this motive did not hold fast. Individuals entering the nursing profession today must first decide which educational pathway to take to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
A Registered Nurse is a person who enjoys helping other people. They practically have the responsibility for many peoples lives. What’s interesting about a Registered Nurse is that they get to learn about all the parts of the human body. A Registered Nurse works in the medical field and needs to be ready with anything that comes their way. There could be a sudden death, some kind of medical issue that pops up, and even a patient just falls over and hurt themselves. As a Registered Nurse they need to be able to deal with blood, snot, vomit etc. The main thing a Registered Nurse has to be good at is being able, and wanting to help people in need.
As of 2008, there were about 753,600 Licensed Practical Nurses and 2,618,700 Registered Nurses in the United States (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). In the year 2018, the LPN employment percentage is expected to rise 21% while the RN rate should be approximately 22% (U.S. Department of Labor, 2010-11). This may not seem that high, but it is, when one considers that the expected employment rate for a Dentist is only expected to be 16% (U.S Department of Labor, 2010-11). Nursing is a highly respected and sought after career because every person that enters this profession is able to make a difference and is needed by the general population for his/her skills and contributions to the medical field. When a person is contemplating entering
My decision to join practicum of health science did not come in a moment of blinding revelation, but as a result of a variety of experiences which began during clinical rotations. During my experience at Kindred and Cy-fair hospital, I gained profound insight into the healing relationship between patient and doctor/healer. While I was there, I delivered many different items that the patients requested such as, jello or water to patients for their afternoon snack. As soon as I brought something as simple as jello into their rooms, their faces, which had previously appeared somber and withdrawn, began to glow. At first, I had believed that this response was in anticipation for the cool, sweet treat; however, I soon realized that this response
Historically, the nursing field is one that has consistent positive job outlooks, as there is typically a continued shortage. Healthcare is the backbone of most communities, not just for its services, but also for the jobs it provides and the economy stimulation. Jill Bernstein, author for “Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization” states, “The health care industry is a critical component of the national, and most regional and local economies of the United States” (4). The nursing field has suffered challenges due to the economic, social, and the political downturn of the U.S. Nevertheless, there is still some noticeable growth taking place and opportunities available. This shows encouraging signs for new nursing graduates.
If you are planning a career in child care, becoming a nursing assistant can be an important step. While it may not be necessary for a position as an aide in a daycare, it could get you a better salary in that same position. While an aide may get minimum wage at the daycare, a certified nursing assistant salary starts at about $9.00 per hour. The advantage of being a nursing assistant when doing child care is the many skills you have been taught during your training.
Training and development opportunities are important in many areas especially in the healthcare field. Being that I worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for over 20 years, I can name just off the top of my head why training and development is important. Training and development opportunities is important because if an employee(s) is working with a patient that has multiple tubing inserts into their body, patient may be bed-written and must be turned every two hours or PRN, if a patient has a sign on their door that reads as follows “NPO” after 12 midnight or if a patient wanders off, what needs to be done to that patients upon contacting the nurse. I listed a few things above that requires proper training and development opportunities in the healthcare field working as a Certified Nurse Assistant that is mandatory and needs special attention to.
I walked through the door of Burgum hall on Saturday expecting to not make any friends, to get lost, to be late to all my classes, and to hate living in a big city. But to my surprise, I did make friends, I did not get lost well not really, I was not late to any of my classes even though I did have to almost run, and so far I love the welcoming community of the Fargo area. My experiences during my first week at North Dakota State University ended up being much better than I expected. Overall, I chose to attend college because it is what was expected of me, and because I wanted to further my education to be able to find a job I will enjoy for the rest of my life.
I believe that nursing is both and art and a science consisting of psychosocial and biological sciences that work together to continually improve the health care field. I believe that with the knowledge and clinical experience from the TVCC ADN program I will be able to provide the best care possible to the people in the community. As a nurse it is important to carry the attributes of being caring, compassionate, understanding, non judgmental, realistic, open-minded, honest, ethical, and moral. I also feel that it is important to maintain sensitivity to all cultures when providing care.
Working well with people is an important factor in the nursing career; a nurse must always be respectful to every patient regardless of the situation. Persuasion sometimes has to be used because a patient may not want a certain medication so a nurse must help the person understand that it is what is best for him or her health and their track to recovery. A nurse must always pay close attention to their patients because if problems or concerns come up, a nurse must be the first to notice it.
Nursing is defined as “as an application of scientific knowledge enhanced by artful practice in a socially responsible manner.” (Gregory 5). Nurses provide leadership as members of interdisciplinary teams, provide client centered care to promote health, prevent disease, and restore and maintain client integrity throughout the life span. (Krannich 71). This makes it one of the most interesting professions, in my opinion.
Ive always wanted a rewarding career that revolved around helping people. I want to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. I am not sure on what specialty I want. So given a assignment in my Introduction Health Sciences class where I have to shadow a nurse practitioner, it gives me the opportunity to explore a specialty and see what it really is like in their typical work day. An advanced practice registered nurse, by the name of Mary Carlson at Parkland Medical Center was willing to let me shadow her for a day. Carlson graduated with her BSN from Boston College. She then pursued a graduate degree from Boston University. Her official title is, Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Medicine.

Registered nursing need dedication although it does not take such a long time to complete this career it has its rewards in its outcomes.
Nursing is a profession that blends the rich traditions of the past with the ever changing realities of today's health care industry. Nursing is not simply an assortment of special skills and the nurse is not simply a person proficient in performing these specific tasks. Nursing is a profession. I believe this statement to be true because of several factors. The Title 19 Code for Nurses is titled "Standards for Professional Nursing Practice". The status of nursing as a profession reflects the values that society places on the work of nurses and how central nursing is to the good of society. "By being a professional we imply that the person is conscientious in actions, knowledgeable in the subject and
