Interpretation:
The color of the red car at night needs to be determined when a yellow streetlight is falls on it.
Concept introduction:
- Every color is made is made up of some primary color.
- Appearance of object color to human eye depends on the reflection and absorption of color depending upon the object color.
- Human eye can detect only the reflected color as the color of the object.
Answer to Problem 6E
If the yellow light falls from streetlamp shines on red car at night then the color of the car appears red only.
Explanation of Solution
Yellow color has wave-length 560-590 nm and red color have wave-length 625-740 nm. Yellow color is made up of two primary colors thatare red and green. When the yellow light falls on a red car it absorbs the green light from the yellow light and reflect the only red colorto the car surface. So, the human eye can see a red car as red when yellow light from a streetlamp falls on a red car.
Therefore, the color of the red car will be red only when a yellow streetlight falls on it.
