Concept introduction: Cell division is necessary for the growth and repair in a multicellular organism. The cell cycle is controlled by the specific signaling molecules present of the cytoplasm. There are different phases of cell cycle like the G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase, and M phase. Each phase has specific protein to carry out the functions. Genetic material duplicates during the S phase of a cell cycle. Cell cycle checkpoints are carefully regulated to ensure that the cycle does not proceed if the suitable conditions are not available.
