Chapter 42, Problem 13TYU
Summary Introduction

To determine:

Why the dung burying process by the beetles is important for cycling of the nutrients and for primary production.

Introduction:

Dung beetles feed on dung and reproduce in dung as well, the characteristics of detritivores. Dung beetles complete their whole life cycle in dung from mating to deposition of eggs. According to their action, they fall into the group rollers, tunnelers and dwellers. Burying of dung by these beetles helps the replenishment of soil and break down of complex organic matter to simpler ones.

Cute cellular structures that are involved in nutrient transport and explain how these carry out their roles.
In not more than 200 words or 5 sentences, answer or explain the following situation. In a seagrass ecosystem, nutrients restrict primary production under low nutrient (oligotrophic) conditions, while light becomes the limiting factor under high nutrient (eutrophic) conditions. Discuss how this happens with respect to the three primary producers (seagrass, macroalgae, phytoplankton) as the condition changes from oligotrophic to eutrophic.
Please watch the YouTube link to help answer this question. Think about the Bucket Orchid's use of secondary metabolites. How does the Bucket Orchid use secondary metabolites to “manipulate” the bee’s activities? Carefully assess each event you see in the video. There is evidence for 5 specific and distinct ways that the orchid 'manipulates' the bees activities (so there are 5 distinct possible answers). Please briefly describe 4 uses of secondary metabolites by the orchid and make sure you are specific and each one is distinct from the others. An Orchid’s Trap https://youtu.be/_uHJGdTgtXE
