Concept explainers
Suppose savings and expenses are variables of type double that have been given values. Write an if-else statement that outputs the word "Solvent", decreases the value of savings by the value of expenses, and sets the value of expenses to zero, provided that savings is larger than expenses. If, however, savings is less than or equal to expenses, the if-else statement should simply output the word "Bankrupt" without changing the value of any variables.

- 1. In which cases you can transform an else-if statements to switch? Provide an example.arrow_forwardPuma Filling Station sells gasoline and has a car wash. Fees for the car wash are K40.00 with a gasoline purchase of K200.00 or more and K70.00 otherwise. Three kinds of gasoline are available: regular at K16.25, unleaded at K 17.63, and super unleaded at K 19.50 per litter. You are required to write a program that prints a statement for a customer. Input consists of number of litters purchased, kind of gasoline purchased (R, U, S, or for no purchase, N), and car wash desired (Y or N). Develop a Pseudocode and a structure chart for the service station problem.arrow_forwardIn admissions to military high schools, the age of the candidate should be between 13 - 17 (including lower and upper limit) and body mass index should be in the range of 18.50 - 24.99 (including lower and upper limit). (Body mass index is calculated by dividing weight by the square of height in meters. BMI = weight / height2). Write the JAVa program on the screen that will show whether the candidate will be admitted to military high school according to age, weight and height information entered on the keyboard.arrow_forward
- what is If...Then...Else statement ?arrow_forwardC++ Write a program that determine the bonus amount using a nested if-else statements . For hourly employees working more than 40 hours, a bonus of $500 is issued. If hourly employee has not worked more that 40 hours, issue a bonus of $100. For those non-hourly employees, issue a $300 bonus if they have been employed longer that 10 years; otherwise, issue a $ 200 bonus.arrow_forwardAssume that d is a double variable. Write an if statement that assigns d to the int variable i if the value in d is not larger than the maximum value for an int. i (int) d; System.out.println(i); } Submit X Incorrect. Try again.arrow_forward
- Write a program that prints the insurance fee to pay for a pet according to the following rules: (Note: must use a switch statement to determine pet fee) A dog that has been neutered costs $50.A dog that has not been neutered costs $80.A cat that has been neutered costs $40.A cat that has not been neutered costs $60.A bird or reptile costs nothing.Any other animal generates an error message. The program should prompt the user for the appropriate information: a character code for the pet type, and a yes/no response for the neutered status. Use a code letter to determine the kind of animal (i.e. D or d represents a dog, C or c represents a cat, B or b represents a bird, R or r represents a reptile, and anything else represents some other kind of animal). Use a code letter to determine the neutered status(i.e. Y or y represents yes, N or n represents no). The user should be allowed to enter the input in either upper or lower case. It prints out the type of animal (full name of animal)…arrow_forwardAn instructor wants to give feedback to students in an assignment according to the number of correctly solved programs. Example of feedback :Nb of correct programs Feedback 0 incomplete assignment1 partially correct assignment2 Satisfactory attempt 3 Good attempt4 Excellent attemptThe following figure shows an example of execution.Write the Java program that reads the number of correctly solved programs and displays the adequate feedback.Note: Choose your own feedback message and do not copy from the previous table. Use any of the conditional statements like if-else/ if-else-if/switch case.arrow_forwardWhat will be the final value of the variable x after execution of the given statement. Initial value of x is 3. x = ++x + ++xarrow_forward
- Write out an IF-THEN-ELSE statement for the following conditions: 1. A person has credit card points and if the number of points entered > 4,999 then output “Enough points for Selection” otherwise output “Not Enough points for Selection” using Variable Points Available. 4. A customer is buying a car for $20,000 and wants to upgrade the stereo speakers for an additional $100. However, if the customer gets the extended stereo package for $250 which includes the upgraded speakers, XM radio, and upgraded visual display. Use variables CarPrice, UpgradedSpeakers and ExtendedStereo for the IF statement. Show the calculation for the total cost of the car depending on options selected.arrow_forwardWrite an if with and else if and an else. The conditions of the if and else if should evaluate an int variable named age (you don't have to worry about this variable or any Scanners or main or anything else). Inside the body of the three parts (if, else if, and else) print out something that a person in the corresponding age would know about from their childhood. All three print statements should be reachable.arrow_forwardplz solve it asap ????????: Write a program for a game that consists of two players. The rule of the game is that player 1 inputs a random number from 1-100. Player 2 will input 5 numbers. If the summation of those numbers is equal to the number OR less than or greater than the number by 3 (+3 or -3), then player 2 wins. Otherwise, player 1 wins. Test Case 1 Input Player 1, enter a number: 50 Player 2, enter a number: 10 Player 2, enter a number: 10 Player 2, enter a number: 20 Player 2, enter a number: 5 Player 2, enter a number: 7 Output Player 2 wins Explanation: The summation of 10,10,20,5 and 7 is 52 which is greater than 50 by 2. According to the rule, player 2 wins. Test Case 2 Input Player 1, enter a number: 50 Player 2, enter a number: 10 Player 2, enter a number: 10 Player 2, enter a number: 20 Player 2, enter a number: 5 Player 2, enter a number: 1 Output Player 1 wins Explanation: The summation of 10,10,20,5 and 1 is 46 which is less than 50 and also doesn’t…arrow_forward
