There are so many history stories in history books and on the internet, but the source from people who were actually there is so much better than reading the nonsense. It’s better to hear stories from people who have actually lived and witnessed it rather than just read stories about it. Most students listen better than they read. When you listen to stuff, it sticks in our mind way longer than looking at a book trying to figure out what’s going on. Veterans are an example of this. They tell us stories about the times they were in the training and when they battled, if they did or have already. They have always been an important part of our nation’s history, present, and future. Everyone who went into the military or is currently planning to join has or will have a story to tell. It will be a part of them that they will always remember, the good times and the bad times. So many veterans love telling all the experiences they have witnessed. Thinking of it, it’s not a bad thing; it’s a great thing to be able to say they were actually there. Many students ask what the training is like when they first join the military, although it’s really tough, many still consider going, some even make the commitment to join right after they graduate. Those who do make it, the commitment, are the reason our nation’s history and future is how it is and how …show more content…
Our nation past was, well, not always perfect. Without some of our veterans, our country wouldn’t be as free as it is. Veterans continue to make our country a free country, which also makes it a better place to live in. Veterans stood up for our country; whether the ones forced to go during the draft, or the ones who voluntarily go. Whether the cause, they were always ready to go and fight for the people’s freedom. We really do see how great these people are, I mean, they risked their life for ours to be
Those who are veterans are those who fought in the wars and those who leaded the troops. Today we honor those who are no longer with us and those who are. We honor them because they fought and saved us from rivalries that were careless about us but our veterans stood up for us until we were safe. If you read history books about the american war you might’ve found that some men were under a lot of stress while training. But the thing that makes them special is they were the brave ones, some men didn’t meet the standards required but some men started training lifting those weights to meet those standards and try again. There are wise and caring people in the world and some times you may have to look for them because they are out
As my fifteen-year-old roommate falls to pieces, panic rises in my chest like a leaping flame. She lets out muffled screams and chilling sobs as she buries her face against the pillow. I kneel beside her and whisper reassurances. “You’ll be okay.” “No one will hurt you.” I pray she hears me but I know she doesn’t. She is trapped somewhere else - somewhere she revisits every day, like a bad song stuck in her head for life.
Veterans put their life on the line to help defend our country because it’s something they feel they need to do. They are very inspiring people. Most people don’t have the courage to go to war. The men and women who are so courageous are once in a lifetime people who have amazing stories to tell. Our freedom would not exist if it weren’t for veterans.
One often misinterprets the true meaning of war, believing it is only a dispute that is ended through fighting. In fact, war is more than just fighting. It is a battle where many brave souls lose their lives for protecting the country they love. Many of the rights we have today would not have been possible without the sacrifice of many brave American soldiers. Instead of living in a tranquil and prosperous nation, we could be living in a nation that resembles countries such as Africa, living under poor conditions and extreme poverty. It is imperative to take into consideration that the veterans we have today have made an impact on our nation and we owe much of our respect to them. Not many people have the courage to take on the heavy and overwhelming duty of going to war, knowing that death is imminent. Along with that, many of them have experienced traumatizing moments that have scarred them for life. Because of this, there is much appreciation and respect inclined towards
I appreciate America’s Veterans because they have served for us back then and have protected us. Especially they gave up their lives when they were young, For instance, some of the Veterans were poor and had nothing and they went to the military to be a better person.
The wars of Iraq and Afghanistan have not only renewed the appreciation for our nation’s military, but it has also raised awareness about the sacrifices and the culture that is produced through the ranks in uniform and also amongst veterans. While it is important to note how the Department of Defense, and The Department of Veteran Affairs have significantly ramped up their efforts to address and identify the transitional problems that affect many veterans, barriers to treatment remain along with the challenge to provide successful outreach through benefits and mental health services to the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), veteran population.
Virginia ranks as the third largest state in the U.S with the highest number of student veterans pursing post-secondary education (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, 2015). Due to the high number of student veterans in the Virginia area, I was able to easily identify three Marine veterans to speak with me about their experience in classroom following their service in combat zones during the Global War on Terror (GWOT) during the mid-2000’s. The purpose of this study is to determine the experience these veterans have in the classroom after their service in conflict zones, and identify any common barriers they
Among the many populations that occupational therapists serve are military veterans who have bravely risked their lives for our country. Whether they are veterans of World War I or II, the Vietnam War or the current Global War on Terrorism, they often return home from combat with various injuries, illnesses and impairments. Some common conditions that they may face include polytrauma, traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. Our military veterans must learn how to reintegrate into society as they transition back to civilian life, which can prove difficult for many reasons. They may experience difficulty readjusting to life at home, school, work or within the community.
We see our country’s veterans everywhere we go. We see them driving around town. We see them at our local Wal-Mart and grocery stores. Unfortunately we also see them on our local street corners and park benches. In many cases this is because of mental illnesses or alcohol/drug abuse. So what are we doing to help these ones? Although our veterans face many issues adapting back to civilian life after service, the government, through the Department of Veteran Affairs, is trying to help these issues through housing for the homeless, health care plans, schooling, as well as assisting these ones find substantial jobs.
Veterans fought for us. They fought for everything for us they go and fight other countries for our freedom some of them lost their lives for our lives to be superior. They have done more than we expected from them. We get to do more things by doing nothing. They get to do nothing and they are the ones that fought and deserve to do the things we get to do.

Throughout history, veterans have suffered after fighting in wars. Millions of veterans were killed and injured. Veterans do not receive all the care they need. Many veterans are currently homeless or suffering due to the fact that the government is not providing enough. Taking care of veterans costs a lot. Healthcare is needed throughout the world. Veterans need healthcare after serving in wars to treat their problems and injuries. Jobs are also important to everyone. Veterans are jobless after fighting in wars. The government continues to attempt helping veterans but it is not enough.
Veterans are part of the foundation of our nation’s freedom. Our veterans risked everything knowing the reward would be living in a free nation. Without our veterans and all of the hard work they have done our nation would have gotten pushed around, and probably still would. Our veterans are those that stood up for our country in its time of need. These brave men and women are the the reason we are able to make our own choices and decisions. Our veterans are the reason to be thankful for getting to choose where you live, work, go to school and church, and how everyday life is spent. They created the stepping stones for the people of today and tomorrow to get to make their own decisions.
They fought for basic freedoms that most Americans today take for granted. Freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and the Bill of Rights were written in the blood of those who raised their hand when the greater good of our country was at stake. You may say that today, the fight is different; it is about oil and politics. Whatever the leaders of our country decide, after being duly elected freely by you and your fellow Americans, has to be carried out by the volunteers who are on the front lines of the American ideal. The Veterans gave up their lives of comfort, postponed their dreams for their family, and placed themselves in harms way because it was what you and your proxies asked of them. If you disagree with the reasons why the Veterans are in one part of the world or what they are doing there, you should let your opinions be known, by voting or by speaking or by writing. Make sure you place your dissatisfaction where it belongs, not on the backs of those who serve your interests but on those who sent them
I think by keeping Lincoln’s promise we should care for the veterans by, respecting them, and make sure the will be financially helped when they get back from overseas. We need to help Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that is triggered by a terrifying event, and many other disorders that veterans.
