Wellness Dimensions
Wellness is not merely physical or mental health, exercise or nutrition. It is much more than that, and involves full integration of our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being states, and includes social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual and physical wellness. Each of these dimension acts, interacts, and significantly contributes to our quality of life.
Social wellness is the ability to relate, connect and interact with, and contribute to the common welfare of other people in our world, rather than to think only of ourselves. This means our ability to
establish & maintain meaningful relationships with family, friends and peers,

Social wellness believes in living in harmony with others of diverse cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, and our environment than to live in conflict with them.
Emotional wellness is the ability to understand ourselves, and cope with the challenges that life can, and will always bring. Our ability to acknowledge and share feelings of
anger, fear, anxiety, sadness or stress; as also
hope, love, faith, joy and happiness etc. in a productive manner contributes to our emotional wellness.
Being emotionally well involves the ability to have an optimistic approach, enjoy life despite its occasional disappointments & frustrations, besides accepting our mistakes for necessary corrective action, and to learn from them.
Spiritual wellness is the ability to establish peace and harmony in our lives. The ability to
develop and practice consistency between our values and actions,
realise a common purpose that binds creation together, and

The last side of the health triangle is social health. Social health is your relationships and your reactions to the people around you. Social health is about having and maintaining friendships and relationships, getting along and working well with others, and giving and receiving support. Some ways to improve your social health are to join a sport , meet new people, and going out with friends. Some things that I do to improve my social health are going out with my friends to the movies. It helps us keep our relationship and gives us an opportunity to meet new people. Another thing I do is talk on the phone because it helps me make arrangements and keep in touch with family and friends that live far away.
Emotional Wellness – To be able to accept and control your feelings. To have a good self-esteem and to not stress or be disappointed. You have to accept what you have done and be happy with what you have done. You need to find solutions to your problems to have a good emotional wellness and if you need to ask people for help to solve your problems then ask.
Wellness is the health of a person as a whole. It encompasses the person’s physical, as well as mental and emotional health. Over time, therapist came to the realization that clients needed to be well in every aspect of their lives in order to be healthy ("Wellness in Mental

I consider health as a state of wellness. With this, I bear in mind that each person’s idea of wellness may differ from the next. For example, a diabetic may consider his diabetes being under control and healthy when his
Thesis Statement: A mentally healthy individual has the characteristics of emotional intelligence and spiritual consciousness, intellectual and social wellness.
Emotional intelligence refers to capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationship. (Goleman, 1995)
Social health goes hand-in-hand with spiritual health. Social health is the ability of a person to interact with other people around them. It is the ability of a person to find comfort in other people. Socially healthy people like to be around other people and are friendly and helpful around their communities, thus causing an amiable and pleasant community. As well as making friends, socially healthy people tend to have healthy relationships and are not too prone to be sick.
There are six separate and distinct categories when defining one’s wellness. Those stages are physical, social, vocational, environmental, psychological, and spiritual. Without one the other could not exist. Physical wellness includes being physically fit, eating nutritiously, and getting adequate sleep. I consider myself to be doing well in this category. I always am in bed before midnight, and exercise at least four to five times in a week. I consider my diet to be the one thing lacking when looking deeper into my physical well-being. Social wellness means having satisfying, trusting relationships and interacting well with others. I feel that this is also a strong part of my total wellness. I feel confident as well as excited to meet new people here at Cornerstone everyday. Vocational wellness is finding meaning in and satisfaction with your school, job, and leisure pursuits. Looking at the vocational
What is wellness? “Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy life. Wellness is also a process for change and growth” (Health Topic – What is wellness?). To have acceptable wellness you should have an equal amount of social, emotional/mental, and physical health. I, myself, believe that I have an okay wellness, I mean not like full wellness but just enough to pass I'll say. But how am I living in wellness?
Before exploring this topic, a few key words must be clearly understood. The definition of emotional health, provided by the Mental Health Foundation, is “A positive sense of wellbeing which enables an individual to be able to function in society and meet the demands of everyday life…” (BelongTo). This has a great deal to do with positivity and a person’s view of the world surrounding them. Without proper emotional health, a person’s world can fall apart, similarly to if one has poor mental health. Mental health is described as “…a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the
There will be five dimensions explained under this topic. Which are: Financial dimension, physical dimension, intellectual dimension, emotional dimension and social dimension. Wellness is substantially more than only physical wellbeing, activity or sustenance. It is the full coordination of conditions of these five dimensions.
The social dimension is about connecting with others. You want to be able to work well with others and be able to relate to them. Also, you want to belong with others and have a friend group can make you laugh and have fun. Spending time with you family and friends is a good way to be socially healthy. Respecting others and yourself can help you be social because it is a great way to get others to like you. Having meaningful relationships that are positive is important in the social dimension too.
What health and wellness mean to me may be different than what the textbook would state health and wellness is. Health means to me the condition in which your body is, which could be poor or good health. The mind, spirit, physicality would pertain all to the state of one's body. Wellness is the consistent goal towards being in wellness meaning that one strives to be in good personal health. The book describes wellness as; “ wellness is the physical-well being , emotional-well being ,and spiritual- well being.” (Robert T. Harper) According to Merriam Webster the definition of health is “the condition of being sound in mind, body, and spirit.”(...) There is not much difference between what I perceive as health and
