Rap music is really popular to us, young people, and sometimes adults, too. In my opinion, I think that rap is a way to allow all of the rappers to express themselves, their voices, their experience, and their feeling from their life. And in some other people opinion, they also describe rap music as the story or the voice of the streets. They are firstly formed and played by the Black communities, and then slowly spread out to the world. In rap world, at first they are only male rappers who use music to express themselves and their pain towards the world. Then, women also began to rap to be able to express their thoughts more and more. Female and male rapper are sharing the same purpose of express themselves through their song but they are different in the way they use their lyrics, the subject they choose to rap on and the feeling they express to their fans and their songs’ listeners.

Hip pop style is very harsh and sometime offensive. Hip hop has a lot of cursing and is not something I would play in the car with my mom. Sometimes people can confuse a hip pop song and a pop song because they have a very similar sound to it. Hip hop they do not sing in the song, they rap. When they rap, it is hard sometimes to understand what they are saying because of their tone of voice or the way that they say it. Hip hop songs do not usually have a meaning behind them and it can be very confusing. Hip hop is not that relatable because some songs hardly have any understandable meaning to it. As many people know, country and rap music are the most renowned genres of music in today’s world. Both genres are opposites of each other, but they both are on the edges of mainstream. Country and rap music may stand alone and share binary oppositions such as lifestyles, however rap culture has influenced country music in today’s world which can be seen through the lyrics.

Musical themes are extremely different between the two genres. Hip Hop is a lot harder and can have much darker and serious undertones. Social matters are common topics for rappers, they use their fame and music as platforms to address unjust actions in our society. Especially black social issues since the genre is dominated by black men. For example, in Kendrick Lamar’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly” he addresses racism that people still see on a daily basis. He also brings up the rampant rise of materialism in society and how its changing the people for the worst. There another facet of Hip Hop that is the exact opposite of what Kendrick Lamar is doing, many artists are just in the game for the wealth and luxury it brings. Many of the artists glamorize drug use, promiscuity and gang life. Pop is much different, the music generally much livelier and is crafted for the purpose of dancing and having a good time. It also tends to be much more radio friendly giving it a much broader audience. Pop artists also have the ability to use their platforms to speak up for issues they believe in, but it doesn’t always work in their favor.
