When looking at country music from the early 20th century, to what it is today there has been some change but most of the concepts have stayed the same. Much of the country from the early times had music about religion, or hardships that were being faced. This is the same as in the present, there are many songs about turning to religion to find hope. There are also the instruments that are used, the bajo, and other stereotypical country instruments are still used to today. This sound that they have, and that these instruments make are what really categorize the music as country. The sound of country has been modified but the underlying sounds have stayed the same, and the messages that are being sung about have been consistent throughout time. The music has taken on a slightly more rock twist with drums and electric guitars that wasn’t as common as in the 20th century style. Today’s country music has a slightly different sound, there is less of the twang that was heard in the early music, and more of a modern pop sound that we have all cone accustomed to listening to. There also seems to be more female country singers now then what was being portrayed in the readings and the videos, this also changing the sounds of the music because there are more feminine songs. The hardships that are being sung about in the songs have changed over time, todays country music is more about relationships and personal hardships while older country music seemed to look more at the hardships the country was
