As part of the Defence integrated workforce, I would like to work under the broad direction of the project manager independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of project outcome along with best practices in project management methodologies.
The below statement briefly captures my project management skills and qualities that I would like to be bring it across into the project life span to deliver projects within time, resource and budget constraints.
• During the project initiation phase, I can work collaboratively with the project sponsor in the development of project charter and lead up to the formal authorisation of the project/ new phase. From the sponsor’s project SOW (Business need, product scope), Business case etc., I can identify measurable project objectives, high level requirements, risks, summary milestones and budget and approval authorities. The key deliverables in this phase are project charter and stakeholder lists.
• During the project planning phase, I can work effectively towards the development of project management subsidiary plans to execute, monitor and control and close projects. I will contribute towards the planning of the scope in assuring that the project includes all the work required and only the work required. I will do this by conducing interviews, focus group, facilitated workshops etc., I can clearly define and document stakeholder needs to meet project objectives that will be
Planning is always helpful for any project even its small or big project. A project without planning has negative impact on their result. Proper planning will consider all task before implementing them into business and can give idea about all possibilities. It can help to break big task into small task and make process smoother. Planning is helping project manager to use their past knowledge in future project. Project planning is the process where project manager decide all the steps to implement and mapped based on the past data, their knowledge, and relative information. When project has been initiated, the first step is planning and scheduling.
The first step will be to look at the goals of the project, and align them with the mission of the company. Systematically, the project will be broken into phases: Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing, Coordinating, Budgeting, Evaluating, and Reporting. Each phase will be further broken down into tasks and placed into a work breakdown structure. From this view, one is able to see the entire project duration, critical path, and milestones. The Planning phase is integral in any project. This phase of the project defines project objectives, mission, goals, and approach. In addition, outlining key elements of the project is critical: performance expectations, risks analysis, and contingency plans. However, after completion
Executive Summary Project management is the science of planning, organizing, executing, and managing the resources needed to achieve a specific goal. Effective project managers (PM) strategically facilitate the entire project management process to ensure the project’s success. To do this the PM must adequately meet the specific requirements (i.e., time, scope, quality, and cost) set forth by the project and its stakeholders. It is theorized that PM must possess a set of core competencies in order to successfully manage a project. Those competencies are development of project management knowledge areas, application of appropriate project management tools and techniques, understanding of the project
As the world is chaotic (Djavanshir and Khorramshahgol, 2006) it is impossible to always predict the future accurately. Teller at al (2012) describes project management as balancing the “iron triangle”, where changes to any one of the planned costs, quality or scope will change the other elements. Risk management allows contingency to be put into project plans, (APM, 2012) minimising negative effects and maximising the benefits of uncertainty.
I am comfortable working independently and take personal initiative to improve and develop processes for the benefit of my clients and team. As a team member, I am successful as a part of diverse groups of varying sizes and have outstanding interpersonal skills as evidenced by superior results on projects that involved multi-service, multi-generational and multi-national
The nature and scope of a project is determined at the initiation stage. This involves analyzing the business needs, developing goals, budgets, tasks, deliverables, and the stakeholder analysis. The project planning stage determines the planning team, develops the scope, and identifies work breakdown structure and activities that will be needed to complete deliverables. The planning stage also estimates time and cost activities, develop schedule and risk plan, and gain formal approval for work to begin. The executing stage involves all processes used to meet the project requirement and involves managing people and resources. The process that entails the identification of potential problems and
It should also discuss how intended beneficiaries have been involved in project design, and their expected role in project implementation and evaluation.
Rolls-Royce is a large company that has over 50,000 employees. The company itself has 3 main sectors that each has a different role within the company;
A project will undergo changes during some point in the projects lifecycle. The Project Changes Request will be used to monitor and report on changes throughout the course of the project lifecycle. The key is controlling the changes to manage the impact to the project plan, budget, and schedule.
Central Custom Cruisers is a new brand of motorcycles which is custom cruiser inspired motorcycles characterized by unique engine features, innovative design, advanced engineering and overall technical excellence. The Company will produce motorcycles in four market segments which vary in their technical and design features and intended customers: Starter Cruisers, Sport Touring Cruisers, Middleweight and Classic. The Company’s motorcycles will be sold as a primary focus in the North American markets. This business project operates as a corporation. Moreover, this motorcycle has a website where patrons and customers can choose to have purchases delivered to their homes as long as they are situated within the city limits. The website is equipped with an interactive system to allow management to reach to the customers and visitors while the latter can also comment and write their posts about the products and services.
The Project Management Plan (PMP) provides the general overview and establishes specific strategies and milestones for the preparation of study notes and delivery of presentation on the topic “Developing the Project Team “. The PMP will define the project 's requirements and expectations. This document will be updated as required, if there is any change in the subsidiary management plans.
This class has given me a great insight into which complexity is and how it relates to project management especially within the construction industry. Project complexity is defined as consisting of many varied interrelated parts and can be operationalized in terms of differentiation and interdependence (Baccarini, 1996). The course established the fact that all projects do have some level of complexity. To be able to effectively identify the extent of complexity and to adequately plane for these complexities, one needs to get a clear understanding of what the project involves and how to strategize an implementation plan (Ireland, 2007). The course also differentiated between risk and complexity while elaborating on the identification and management of risk. Complexity is basically associated with the level of difficulty which makes it harder to complete the project thus requiring special efforts to keep project risk in check. Risk measures the uncertainties associated with the project while complexity focuses on the known knowns. Also discussed was the Complexity Theory. This theory seeks to determine the minimum number of components needed for a system within a particular area of interest firstly by finding new designs that call for fewer components and by showing that a certain number of components will be needed no matter what design is followed. Secondly by setting limits beyond which further attempts at improvements are futile. This helps to completely

The goal of the team Synergy is to help the client in the development of such Automated Model Compiler (AMC) tool. This tool should ultimately allow the users at Ford to be able to use it in their everyday activities.
Governance and organizational structure are two matters that may be considered the pillar of every large scale project. Governance is the one process that gives a suitable framework for decision making and managerial action inside an organization that should be based on transparency, accountability and defined roles. In addition, it gives a plain distinction between ownership and task control. It helps setting limits for management acts by defining goals as well as the means by which they should be fulfilled. In the absence of a proper governance structure, organizations would take risks in terms of conflicts and inconsistencies between different means of reaching goals and therefore causing costly repercussions that impact negatively on the running of the project but also on the profitability.
