Problem Formulation:

[What is the problem that created the need for a policy?]
Problems creating the need for a Pet Policy would be firstly, damage done to the dwelling space such as scratched up floors, chewing damage as well as accidents on carpets seeping into the backing of carpet that would need replacing after moving. Second, is the disturbance to neighbors such as dogs barking, birds squawking and four legged animals racing around the apartment that can disturb other tenants in the property as well as outside neighbors. A monthly pet fee charge and an additional deposit for tenants with pets. A large enough amount will ensure the tenant is concerned with getting their money back. Hopefully, the thought of losing their money will be an incentive for the tenant to keep their pet well behaved. Secondly, the specifications of pets allowed such as no-pets policy stating that pets are not allowed under any circumstances. The type and number of pets allowed specifying the exact animals allowed and how many of each or a maximum number/limit of pets. Pets are ok but no dangerous dog breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Chows, Akita, Alaskan Malamutes, German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, St. Bernard’s, Wolf Hybrids, and a mix of any of the above. Banning on just the requirements of height and weight allowing most breeds without specifically banning them. Or only on animals the landlord specifically allows making it clear that the landlord will have to approve of any animal that will live in the apartment. Another alternative would be companion animals that are verifiable through a Medicare provider.
