My Memorable Experience

Learning that school is something to be glad about was one aspect I will never forget. School helps spark and form the character of discovery in one’s mind. To find problems in the world’s society and attempt to fix them so future generations will not be forced to make that same mistake. Other than social media, education is the most powerful tool to train an adolescent’s mind. Coming from the Nobleboro Central School I have this story. The first trimester was a long one, I had never presented a project before and didn’t know the first thing about talking out loud in front of a class. Also, my English was considerably bad with papers handed in, in rough draft form. My English is still a little rusty, although my past teachers have guided me past the few trimesters preparing me for an average High School paper. Concludingly, the first trimester of public school was a real learning experience with mostly a C average in most of my classes which left room for improvement. The second trimester I had an understanding of school and was trying more and more on improving how I could understand teachers. This time of education at public school was the aha moment wherein I could explore the true reasons of presentations, tests and open book exams. The third and final trimester was a matter of consistency in grades. Because of this, most of my trimester average grades were in the B+/A range. On November 19th, 2016, My family and I were going to Western Michigan University. We were heading off to watch the football and hockey game, my father told me it would take a few hours. Hours went flying by it felt like we were in a race car, we finally arrived hours later. We went straight to the dining area, it smelled like fresh made pasta and many more thrilling smells. As we made our way through the crowd, we found a table to sit at. Afterwards when we found a seat, we went darting off in many directions to look at all the food stations. I was never one of those people that would hate school, but neither did I love school. I knew that school would get me to where I want to be and that’s what kept me going. One thing that really impacted my life was seeing my class rank. As I went through the years of high school I would try so hard to have good grades. I started playing volleyball in 6th grade. My friend Abagail had wanted me to play for our school, so she would have one friend on the team. From there I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play volleyball. I had never watched volleyball and never played it either.

That semester I had to write a ten page paper in two days because my coworker was out and I had nobody to take my place; I worked two weeks in a row without days off. Another of my worst experiences occurred in the English 364 class because the class materials were unavailable ahead of time, so it was a rush to complete assignments when they were due. I misinterpreted the instructions and chose a person that was irrelevant to the class. I was unable to redo the assignment because I never received a grade for it until week seven. In week seven I was busy working on the final project and lacked opportunity or time to redo the assignment and it cost me my grade and dropped my

When I entered Glenbrook South High School for my first day of freshman year, I was not excited to be back in school and I was definitely not ready to learn again. I remember the first class I had was English. As I sat in English, I recognized some people from middle school, but most of the faces were new to me. The teacher, I forgot her name, was very nice and welcoming. She asked us to pull out our “Of Mice And Men” books and asked someone to read the first page out loud. Biology class was an easy subject. We pretty much just did matching X and Y chromosomes and watched the slow monsters inside me. I had friends in this class and sat in the front by the door. But then one day the teacher told us we were going to dissect a frog and I hate them. The day of the dissection I was queasy and a little scared. Remembering how school was for me always makes me think of my mother. I never wanted to leave the house, as she was severely ill. I never wanted to leave for long periods of time. I would always think the worst in the back of my mind, What if? What if she needed a drink of water and was unable to get it? What if she had an episode and was unable to get to the phone? In the Ninth grade I had An extremely difficult spanish class. This was also compounded by a bout of mental depression I had after I nearly failed the first quarter because a misunderstanding about a project, and the fact I never wanted the class due to the horror stories I had heard . Throughout the year these problems compounded lowering my score in other classes as I had to sacrifice more and more time to spanish and was dragged deeper into my depression.

I was dreading to attend due to the the overwhelming pressure that is expected to go above and beyond to complete an assignment but of course nobody wants to niglet free college classes so i took a leap of faith. My first assignment was to make a speech on a topic to informing the class. I could not be more terrified in being front and center of the classroom. I could feel all forty-six out of the twenty-three students eyes deadbolted on me. My hands shaking and sweating my legs wobbling like elvis presley, but i had to get through this speech i refused to be the little mouse. I took a deep breath and started with my topic next thing i knew i heard clapping, it was over and apparently i didn't do to bad. When I was a kid, school for me was waking up early in the morning. I also have to study a lot in school, then after school I have to do homework. I remember my first day at school. My mom and dad, both were so happy and prepared but I was so nervous and cheerless. I didn’t like to wake up early in the morning for school , but as time flew by I started loving school which made me wake up with energy instead of tiredness. I began to enjoy the school as I made new friends and I got to know how it is like when you meet people out of your neighborhood. With my friends I had lunch together and study together. I started to understand what the purpose of the education system. Based on what I understood I think the purpose of education is really aimed at helping students get to the point where they can learn to be on their own. In this journey of education I had a lot of positive and few negative experiences,but the negative experiences also helped me growing. Positive experiences are my teachers helping me improve, and I improved more when I moved to the United States.

My most memorable childhood event was when I was 15 years old. It was the Fourth of July. A big family vacation a barbeque, over night stay and out of town trip to six flags, and I had a blast the night before me, my mom, sisters and brother packed our bags to stay the night over my cousin house in Goodlettsville ,Tennessee. She had the biggest house ever I thought it was a mansion; six bedrooms two an half bath, a swimming pool, a game/movie room with a nice big kitchen. It was something that I was not use, knowing that we stayed in a three bedroom based on an income apartment on the East side of Nashville.

Throughout life I have had many memorable events. The memorable times in my life vary from being the worst times in my life and some being the best, either way they have become milestones that will be remembered forever. The best day of my life was definitely the day that I received my drivers' license. This day is one of the most memorable because of the feelings I had when I received it, the opportunities that were opened up for me and the long lasting benefits that I received from it that still exist today.

The education we receive today holds the power to shape the individuals we will be in the future. Not only does our education aid our choices throughout school, but also the choices we make in our personal lives like where we choose to work and how we portray ourselves to society. Personally, I have enjoyed my educational experience. I have enjoyed learning new concepts and interacting with new people. Of course, there are obstacles along the way. However, these obstacles have given me the opportunity to realize my strengths and weaknesses and learn to improve in both areas. As a student, I hold onto my perseverance, seek guidance from influential figures in my life, and embrace my challenges to which all contribute to my hope to become the finest version of myself.
