Introduction This paper will talk about two world-class leaders, their countries, and their particular leadership settings. It will also compare and contrast the leadership styles of each leader. Specifically discussed will be the following: Sergey Brin, Howard Schultz, comparison of leadership style and contrast in leadership style. This paper will conclude with a summary of this discussion.

Howard Schultz (CEO of Starbucks) He is an American entrepreneur born from a working poor class family in New York in July 19, 1953. Howard is the chief executive and chairman of Starbucks, also used to be owner of the Seattle Supersonics. Schultz has been classified as one of the richest persons in the U.S according to Forbes magazine in 2016. Schultz recently declare his retirement as the CEO of Starbucks. Schultz attended the Northern Michigan University thanks to an American football scholarship.
Comparison of Leadership style Both leaders are participatory because they allow employees to participate by giving input into the decision making process. Participative leadership management values the input of the team members and employees, but also the responsibility of making the final decisions with participative leader. Both leaders had the inherent traits to be great leaders. The trait leadership theory believes that people are either born or are made with certain qualities that will make them excel in leadership roles. People from different cultures could consider different traits to be “good” or “evil” or even a little of both. There are times in life where a person has to make certain choices that could be interoperated both ways. At the University Eye Clinic (UEC), leadership drives the organization to function and maintain its policies, vision, and mission of the agency. In Effective Leadership Masterclass, Adair states, "the word leader has developed from the root meaning of a path, road, or course of a ship” (1997). This means having leadership is the path that brings a community practice and organization together. Leadership is rooted in teamwork and a shared common goal between members of a team.
Leadership is critical when executing a strategic change initiative. By differentiating leadership and management, leadership styles and the key factors of change we can better understand what should be done to successfully lead change. Success is not obtained through leadership alone but by developing a group of individuals from all levels of the organization who work together as a team. . (Leban and Stone, 2007)
Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Creating trust within the team, support face-to-face collaboration, transfer responsibilities when making decisions, and ultimately teach other how to be leaders. All of this is not done if it is not done from the bottom of your own heart.

Leadership style is the driving force behind an organizations effectiveness and overall success. Leaders control the heart of an organization; they control the direction, values, and employee’s level of commitment to the organization. Consistency and reliability are key traits that followers look for in a leader. Team members need to understand and know that the actions of their leaders will be within the expected realm of who they are and how they have presented themselves. A leader’s inconsistency could be viewed by followers as unreliable, unpredictable, and hard to follow. So how does a leader navigate an organizations multi-faceted culture while cultivating success and effectiveness?
From Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela’s charisma, to Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King’s intelligence and Steve Jobs’ analytical nature, there can be as numerous ways to lead as there are leaders (Crossman, 2010). Leadership is a hot debate both in the business world and other areas of the society. Throughout the world's, there have been as many leadership models as there have been their commentators (Burns & Peltason, 1966). Fortunately, psychologists and businesspersons have established useful frameworks that refer to the main ways of leadership.
It is suggested that leadership is a kind of ability or activity which a leader could straight affect and guide their followers to achieve certain objectives in the specific situation (John Calvin Maxwell,2011). The shifting internal elements and increasing external competitions have posed growing demanding to managers’ leadership approaches. However, managers are provided with various personalities or perspectives, accordingly, managers are not accomplishing their aims by using similar styles. The leadership style, according to Newstrom and Davis (1993), is the ways and approaches of offering targets, fulfilling plans as well as inspiring subordinates. Based on the types of individuals the leader works with and various personality traits hold by the leader, the leadership style differs. There are several leadership styles suggested by different researchers such as autocratic, democratic, laissez-fair, transactional and transformational. Some of leadership styles are no longer suit for current marketplaces especially for those organizations which want to attract talent person from all over the world and exploit global markets. Therefore, this essay aims to focus on transactional and transformational styles, then take Baidu and Google as examples to make a comparison and contrast between these two styles as well as illustrate which one may generate better outcomes than another.
Howard Schultz, the CEO of Starbucks Corporation, is a great business leader because he has a clear vision that no one had before, a solid strategy to achieve that vision, and a great influence on people around the world.
After taking the assessment, it was determined that my style is Participative. Participative leadership is Democratic and focuses on a collaborative effort from the team. Participative leaders rely on the team’s ideas and abilities instead of making all the decisions on their own (Murdock, K. 2014). Although the leader makes the final decision, the team has the freedom to contribute to decisions being made. Teamwork is an essential attribute for Participative leaders. As a Participative leader, you must possess the ability to set aside your ego, listen to the team, and give the team freedom to make their own decisions. In reviewing my results, I was not shocked by the fact that I as fit the mold of a Participative Leader. I’ve never been the type to rule with an Iron Fist. I don’t believe in a “my way or the Highway approach. I’m a collaborative individual and I rely heavily on the people around me to achieve a specific goal. Reason being,
When I think about the type of leader I would like to be, there is one supervisor that always comes to mind because of the positive environment she cultivated. In researching the different leadership styles for this assignment, I believe that this is the style that she used with her staff. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship and correlation between a manager’s leadership style and their employees’ satisfaction and motivation as it relates to the material that we’ve covered in class.
