According to the article¨White lies are acceptable, even necessary part of many lives¨.I believe lying is Ok when you're in a bad situation. Also when you're about to protect your friends or your own self. Many lies are a moral duty especially needed in daily life.
Lying is sometimes Ok in some conditions.Sometimes its urgent to lie because you dont want to hurt anyones feelings. An example of trying not to hurt anyones feelings would be Ex:(Michell):Do I look fat in this dress? Then cristina says(Cristina)No you look nice dont worry about anything. She said that because she knew if it would hurt Michells feelings if she told her the truth.Another example is that Rebecca Campbell didnt want to tell her son there was going to be cartoons on

Immanuel Kant has a different point of view.He believes lying is not Ok.He believes there are consequences for lying and remove any effort to distinguish among lies. Also he thinks lying will hurt mankind individually. He also believes when you lie the lie harms the liar himself or herself.
My argument can speak to theirs because mine has a lot of details and I can explain myself while I read through it.Also it can make them have a different point of view.My argument matters because it shows on what side of lying am I.Im not in the part where lying is not Ok I believe lying is so usefull and should be Ok.
In all I believe lying is Ok to use in purposes that are used to protect yourself and your friends.Lying is a moral duty to use in a daily
Lying could be both bad or good, but it depends on the reason. Lying is often used with trying to stay alive. For example, in Night, an inmate told both Elie and his father to lie about their ages, in the text it says, ¨´Hey, kid, how old are you?´ The man interrogating me was an inmate. I could not see his face, but his voice was weary and warm. ´Fifteen.´ ´No. You're eighteen´ ´But I'm not,´ I said. ´I´m fifteen.´ ´Fool. Listen to what I say.´...´ I'm fifty.´ ´No.´ The man now sounded angry. ´Not fifty. You're forty. Do you hear? Eighteen and forty´¨(Wiesel 30). This shows that they had to lie or else they may not have even been able to work in the concentration camps that they were
In Article Lies,Lies,Lies published on october 5, 992 by Time Magazine states lying is okay when you use it to get out of situation for example my dog ate my homework also you can partner up with someone so you can get out of
Lying is only okay sometimes. Sometimes telling a small lie is better than hurting someone. However, if lying becomes a habit, the people around you might start to mistrust you. You should think about the consequences before lying, the outcome will be different if the truth is told. This is why lying is only okay sometimes.
I agree with the fact that lying is NOT okay. BUT, its also okay in certain situations. Most adults lie to their children about multiple things such as: believing there is a Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, etc. Some adults Some children think what they are being told is true
Lying can save you in severe situations such as life or death. Elie lied about his age and said he was eighteen instead of fifteen. “‘Your age?’ he asked, perhaps trying to sound paternal. ‘I'm eighteen.’ My voice was trembling.” (Wiesel 31). Not telling exact information to strangers about yourself can prevent bad things from happening. He told the doctor he was sick so he didn’t have to get his crown taken. His crown could buy him an extra ration of bread and soup, so he decided it’d be smart to keep it. He said he was a farmer because it could save him from being killed immediately. Lying is one of many ways that can help people survive in certain situations.
The majority of people think lying is inherently wrong, and it is only justified in cases of significant benefit. Fear, manipulation and pride are the three main reasons people choose to lie. Some of the harsher lies are
Lying is known as a bad thing, but sometimes it can be used for good. Dishonesty just depends on how you utilize it. In the story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain you will see lying happening very often. When Huckleberry Finn lies it is usually for a good purpose. While the king and duke use it for more greedy reasons.
Furthermore, it is justified to lie in order to prevent hurting someone. Most people are familiar with the white lies we tell to avoid an argument or just to make others feel better. These lies can be found in the article “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying”, published by NBCNews.com. Within this article, people are asked about their opinions on when it is okay to lie. It states, “In the AP-Ipsos poll, 65 percent
Kant argues the it is never permissible to lie as it is immoral. He believes a lie harms humanity and our entire social life. He then states "it is never permissible to lie, even if by lying we could save a friend from being murdered. Although Kant believes it is immoral to lie, it may sometimes be immoral to speak the truth. When speaking the truth it may improve their life but that is not always the case. If we speak the truth to cause pointless embarrassment or harm to one another it is just as bad as lying to them. The truth is sometimes more damaging than useful and will make that person rethink of what they have been doing and a worse life experience. Sometimes the truth should be avoided if it is to cause pointless pain and
Lying can be described as the act of telling an untruth, but just when is it ok to lie? In the articles, “It’s the Truth: Americans Conflicted About Lying,” from Life on NBCNEWS.com, and “Brad Blanton: Honestly, Tell the Truth,” by Barbara Ballinger, it provides evidence that leads me to believe that lying is acceptable when you do it to protect a relationship or someone from a life or death situation.
Almost everybody can agree that lying is wrong, but are there any circumstances that make lying okay? In the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, a young boy in the 1840s runs away from home, and floats down the Mississippi River with a runaway slave named Jim. The two undertake a series of adventures meeting lots of new people along the way. Much of the story is developed through the elaborate lies told by Huckleberry, which both shape him as a character and make the reader feel a deeper connection to him. In contrast, the Duke and The King are con artists who take advantage of people to steal their hard earned money for their personal benefit.
The article “Brad Blanton:Honestly,Tell the Truth” states”It keeps you locked in the jail of your own mind. You have to remember what you told each person. You have to think about what the person's reaction might be, and you start manipulating information to control the outcome”. I disagree because feeling guilty is not as bad as both people being hurt. Also, memorizing details of a lie could easily be avoided by keeping the lie simple. The article “Rejecting All Lies:Immanuel Kant” states “ A lie, even if it does not wrong any particular individual, always harms mankind individually.”. Some use lying as a way to get out of a situation instead of a tool of protection. The world is not getting affected by lying but how people are using it. Many do not think that lying is tainting the world but that simply is not
Lying the one form of communication that is the untruth expressed to be the truth. Immanuel Kant states that lying is morally wrong in all possible ways. His hatred for lying has made him “just assumed that anyone who lied would be operating with a maxim like this: tell a lie so as to gain some benefit.”(Landau,pp.171) This is true for a vast number of people, they will lie in order to gain a certain benefit from the lie rather than the truth. It is similar to if you play a game of truth or dare, some rather pick a dare because it would release them from having to tell the truth. However, those who do pick truth still have a chance to lie to cover up the absolute truth.People lie in order to cover who they truly are. Even if you lie to benefit someone or something else, it would not matter to Kant because he does not care for the consequences. If you lie but have a good intention it is not the same for Kant, he would argue that you still lied no matter the consequence that a lie is a lie. “ While lying, we accuse others for not being transparent. While being hypocrites ourselves, we expect others to be sincere.” (Dehghani,Ethics) We know how it feels to be lied to by a person, so in order to not have the feeling returned, we hope the person will be truthful. We rather be surrounded by truthful people constantly despite all the lies that some people tell. No
First, it is okay to lie when you are trying to protect someone's feelings , and from getting hurting them. What I mean by protecting someone's feelings , it is that you know something that can really hurt them. An example is when you find out something very serious happened to your family so, you lie to your siblings so they do not get worried. Two thirds said it was okay to lie in certain situations. My source is from the article ¨ It's the Truth , Americans Conflicted About Lying ¨ Another example is when you do not want your kids eating too much , so you say all the cookies are gone. It can be hard to get people to tell the truth , especially about lying. My source is from the article ¨ It's The Truth, Americans Conflicted About Lying¨.
Lying is certainly appropriate in some situations. People lie all the time. I find it necessary to lie all the time. I lie about my age. I lie to girls about how successful I am. I lie on my job applications. When an application asks if I have ever been convicted of a felony I always check no. I find that most people do not even do a background check. Maybe some employers don’t care because who doesn’t have a past history of doing something they feel bad about or regret.
