September 11, 2001, changed me, I remember it was a Tuesday morning I put my sons Frank and Brandon on the school bus. I remember looking up at the sky thinking what a perfectly gorgeous weather day it was. The large fluffy white clouds made the shade of the blue sky even more deep and brilliant. Arriving at the office, traditional Tim Horton’s coffee in hand I expected a typical morning. Chatting cheerfully with colleagues in the conference room our boss, Barbara sat down ready to start our weekly sales meeting. An administrative assistant came in and said, “Something really bizarre just happened, a plane just flew into one of the twin towers.” Everyone looked puzzled and our boss unsettled, but said, “Okay, well we need to get started,
The sun gleamed into my eyes as it dipped behind the horizon. I stood in my friend’s backyard, excited by the hamburgers I just ate and ready for the night's Fourth of July festivities. My friend stood next to me as I grabbed the long plastic lighter and got ready to light the firework. At this moment I was ready to have a fun patriotic night, but I didn't realize that this night would teach me a great lesson about how my carelessness could lead to dangerous consequences.
When I turned around to see the TV, I realized it was happening outside the window. Everyone sat in silence until a voice came over the intercom saying “we need to evacuate tower 2 but to not take the elevator.” We rushed to the stair way. It was crowding with people and was as hot as a sauna and about as humid as one too. The people were all trying to scurry down the stairs. Everyone had fear in her eyes and were trying to call their loved ones. People were on the phone trying to talk but kept shuddering because they were trying to hold back tears. All I could think about was the fact that I almost didn’t come to work today because of my allergy appointment. The humid, dusty air didn’t help
Chris murry 3rd and hes team of navys on may 5 2009 we was sent to pakanstan to kill osama ben liden. I came to the army because of 9/11. I wanted to be the one to take the leader of 9/11 down. So from 2002 to 2009 i was training. But that year i knew we was going to catch him. We was getting the helacoter ready for the mission and my sargent gave me two other people to go with me. We was on our way to pakastan. The helacoter put us 10 miles from the hide out. So we walked for 10 miles and there it was the hide out. There was a big wall and it was quiet. We clamed over the wall and was attacked. We hide behinde this big rock. And while my partners was distrating them i ran behind the hideout and clamed in the north windeo. Then i started to
although some may argue for the 4th Amendment, but the risks from terrorism were clearly outweigh any loss of privacy. ("How 9/11 Changed America: Four Major Lasting Impacts")
Fourteen years ago, my father ran towards chaos as everyone ran away in fear. He believed he was just doing his duty to his country. He loaded up his gear got into the truck and began the long drive into lower Manhattan. Even at 5 years old I can still remember my mother sobbing, begging my dad not to go, not to get on the truck, to let the younger guys go. I remember sitting in front of the television watching the horrible terror that my dad was willingly walking into. My father was one of the hundreds of volunteer firemen that responded on that fateful September day. What didn’t cross our minds was that this heroic act could have negatively impact the rest our lives.
How 9/11 changed America September 11th, 2001, a day the world will never be forgotten. On this day known as 9/11 the terrorist group Al-Qaeda hijacked planes and flew them into the two world trade centers buildings in America. This attacked was against America and on American soil. It was felt all around the world but the biggest shock and impact was on America itself. 9/11 moved the emotions of the American people, increasing national security, and started the war on terrorism.
The catastrophic day of 9/11 will always be remembered as a day of loss, and a day that made America stronger. I interviewed my mother, Iryna Getman on this horrific day. My mother immigrated here in July of 2001 from Berdyansk, Ukraine. Here is her story.
September 11, 2001. Today was like any other day get dressed eat breakfast go to work, when i was my work someone said look there’s a plane. I looked and it hit the north tower everyone screamed. When that happened i was on the 112 floor and at 9:02 when our tower was hit and that changed my life forever.
Tragedy inevitably affects us in an array of ways. No one will ever be the same after the 9/11 tragedy physically, mentally or interpersonally. This tragedy set off a world of fear within America, affecting everyone within the country in a variety of ways. It caused people to have a negative attitude toward middle eastern culture. The attack also significantly changed the way in which we travel, with more security and protocols. In Les Misérables and Much Ado About Nothing, tragedy causes people’s worlds to be overturned; characters are suddenly struck with changes of heart, changes of mind and changes of family.
It’s true. Most of us have not only heard this said, but we have said it ourselves. After 9/11, everything changed. How so, you ask? Many of our attitudes towards people of different ethnic backgrounds and religions have changed. Many of us have changed where we stand on the issue of immigration. We, as a country, as Americans, have changed in ways we never thought possible. Certain questions I need to address in analyzing this issue are: Do we have a greater sense of unity as Americans now or not? Does this sense cross racial, ethnic, and gender boundaries? Also, I will analyze if being afraid has made us xenophobic (having a fear of anyone of foreign origin).
I had never been passionate about anything until 9/11. Thinking back, that was probably the strongest memory I have as a child that really motivated me to want to change the world for the better . Growing up in New York there have always been A lot of liberal people around me and I think that really influenced me into wanting to put a piece of myself out into the world. My love for art and film blossomed through those influences and made me who I am today. I think showing a message through my art is really my main purpose on earth. Expressing myself through sculptures and pictures is my way of changing the world for the better.
My mom was in graduate school at Columbia University when the attacks occurred. This Event shaked her life. No one should ever go through this. She suffered from post traumatic stress for a few months after 9/11. This is a very sensitive subject for my mom to talk about.
When I was twelve years old I didn’t watch the news. Sure, I would sit on the couch with my father as he tuned in every night. He would have his feet up on the coffee table, watching Greta, O’Reilly, or whatever other host the Fox News Network had on at the time. I would have my feet up on the same table, watching the same clips on screen but still goofing around on my Gameboy Advance. I would see the news headlines and clips every night, but I never really watched the news until I was twelve years old. The first news story I ever felt compelled to watch was a special broadcast honoring the anniversary of the September 11th attacks. I don’t think there will be another two hours in my life that will change me as profoundly as that special did.
“Hello? My dad...he fell and he’s...he’s not breathing right. It's like an on and off.”
On september 11, 2001, There were multiple attacks that left thousands of innocent people dead. The places that were Targeted was the twin towers In New York, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and the last plane crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania on a farm. There were a total of 19 hijackers. The attack that is most popular is the World Trade Center or better known as the twin towers. Even though the other attacks were tragic, People mostly focused on the World Trade Center in New York because, it's dead rate. These twin towers were monumental to any and everyone who laid eyes. I remember being told story of how I was 5 months old and in church. Not realizing how bad this impacted the united states outside of the church walls. Growing up over the year I started to realize what damage the terrorist did to our nation. They left countless children without a mother or father. What really interest me is how did two gigantic building that took almost a decade to build fall in the matter of two to 3 hours? This all happened because a heartless man decided to end innocent people's lives over some dumb feud. The reason i want to go this trip is because i enjoy learning about history. Expectually something that happened in my lifetime. When i used to live in South Carolina i use to borrow books from the library on 9/11. I used to watch videos on how people were like inside the building. Imagine how hectic it might have been. Not know if you could get out alive or if you can
