I have to admit most of the time I am always up for a challenge. However, preparing a well written successful grant proposal is just one of the many challenges to grant funding. I chose option A. a Coca-Cola local plant’s foundation grant for $20,000 to start a class at a local high school on career selection. I believe that it is best for someone like me without any experience to start out on a small scale by choosing a short term project with a public funder. My decision was based on the complicated policies and regulations that Dr. Crum describes in the Grants Managing Section. According to Crum, Federal Grants have numerous regulations, Congressional Acts, and Office Management and Budget Circulars that may have special grant exclusions and caveats. These exclusions and stipulations have specific guidelines that must be met in order to insure funds are spent appropriately. Managing federal grants can be a huge undertaking, especially for grantees with simultaneous grant management deadlines …show more content…
Many private funders request a simple report from their grantees at the end of the project period (Ward, 2010 p. 97). Developing a highway that runs through the Louisiana swamps may be more exhilarating than a high school health career selection course, but it comes at a much higher price tag and much more complicated logistics. With the school already on board and a teacher in place, it would just be a matter of developing an extensive evaluation process that would determine the effect of the class. Funding would be pretty simplistic since many small foundations only have one or two staff members to report to. They are also not governed by the same rules and regulations that federal funders are (Ward, 2010 p. 102). Due to their size private funders many of the same regulations that federal funders require and can be more flexible when it difficulties with the
Secondly, I find that this project lacked oversight of a strong panel / board / committee to check the progress along with expenditures vs. budget. This was public money that was budgeted for a project and yet, there was no clear division between the payer and the decider as Rubin explains in “The Politics of Public Budgets”. As she states there are two critical characteristics of public
The grant proposal application states that the project must have an end date on or before August 31, 2014. However, this proposal says the project end date is ongoing, which violates the rules. There was no indication how the project would impact those involved, or how it would impact the community. This proposal never indicated how they would evaluate the project itself once it was over, and the project had no prediction of the sustainability after the grant either. The only strengths this grant proposal had was providing a budget match, and fitting within the community service, and civic engagement categories. I felt this grant proposal was pointless, and I would not fund this proposal at all.

I presented Esteban’s case during case consultation because I noticed that I had countertransference when doing his intake. My expectation when presenting this case was to receive feedback that would help me to provide effective treatment to Esteban without my countertransference affecting his treatment. This section of the paper will talk about the feedback I received about my countertransference and how to support Esteban.
However, there are other government's standard requirements for solicitation that the attached proposal does not meet. The U.S government has standard solicitation forms that should be used to request for proposal. The U.S government either requests for proposal through Grants.gov or directly from federal government agencies. When the U.S government requests for the proposal from either of the two methods, the government provides series of solicitation forms that firms must fill in order to apply for the
A number of different methods can explain policymaker’s decisions to provide grants for programs. The programs can be implemented that can increase efficiency through various activities. It is better if the decisions are made on the basis of economic efficiency that have more information. Whether any government like federal or local or state make decisions in more efficient way they have to face circumstances that depends who gets benefits and who bears the cost.1 If the federal government have not sufficient information to implement the decision but they have goal to make program successful then they can take information available at the state and local
Public administrators across the United States of America strive to provide its’ citizens with programs and amenities for various purposes. Legislators create and enact programs such as the Community Development Block Grant Program that give a positive impact to individuals by creating jobs and rehabilitating poverty stricken neighborhoods that not only provide a community with hope but also stimulate economic growth of the economy. Local, state, and federal governments also provide its citizens with advantages of amenities such as recreational activities, upgrading of water
In Howard County there are specific guidelines which must be followed when considering applying for for grants as per HCPSS Policy 4000. Howard County also offers assistance in grant writing through the Grant Support Services (GSS) Office. This office provides grant-related services to school and central administration staff in the areas of grants research, development, and procurement. Through Media staff members, I was able to receive a copy of Policy 4000, and it revealed grant procedures are guided by quite specific procedures; the following apply for and using grant funds.
According to the CMSA (Case Management Society of America) and several others organizations that case management alone means that it is a collective system that helps the patient and their family needs through the communication, available resources of promoted quality, and cost-effective outcomes.
Chapter one helped clarify grant terminology that I may run into while conducting grant research and filling out grant applications. I found this useful because I now have a better understanding of what certain grants are looking for and the grant language that is needed. This chapter also helped me learn how to set up a plan for keeping track of the grants I am working on and helped set up the process. The second chapter goes over how to create and complete funding plans for each grant. It stresses that without a plan it is difficult to have a successful grant process. This chapter has useful suggestions on what to look for within an organization to decide where funding is needed. The third

Brief summary description of the project proposal: Describe problem addressed, proposed solution, expected results, intended beneficiaries and reason(s) why assistance is requested from the Voluntary Fund.
Provided the fact that proposals are the gateway to grant funding, there are a few keys to ensuring that an organization submits a successful proposal. The first step is to document an unmet community need that the grant seeker is in a position to address (Neitzey, 2016). By demonstrating that a problem exists, organizations are more likely to explain who will benefit should the project be funded. Furthermore, by highlighting the problem, the organization is more capable of articulating the overall impact the project will have on those who are negatively impacted by the lack of a project addressing the problem. The second step is to demonstrate a clear plan for the program (Neitzey, 2016). Once developed, the plan successfully articulates the organization’s ability to identify themselves as a unique, yet impactful organization. Essentially, the plan is to show that the organization has the necessary resources to successfully end or minimize the problem discussed earlier in the proposal. The third step is to thoroughly research funders, competitors, and potential partners (Neitzey, 2016). Perhaps this is the most important step, due to the fact that without the funding there will still be a need in the community. However, when organizations are seeking funding, they should rely on funding that align with their mission. By doing so, they are not mission drifting, and they are applying for funds
